His winning % is hardly better than Ionello's 2-22. No. Kenni Burns was signed to an extension earlier this year. He's not going anywhere, thankfully. Kent signed him to an extension after one year in which he went 1-11 (and a very bad, hopeless kind of 1-11)? Well, they deserve what they get then. catdaddyp
Anything can happen, but the likelihood of losing to this Colgate squad is extremely low. 2022 St. Francis turned out to be a better FCS team than anyone expected (9-3). And as it turns out, the 2023 Morgan State team had a strong defense and had opportunities to win all their games except for one. This is not meant to take a shot at Colgate, but they are likely the worst FCS team we’ve played in the Moorhead era. Outside of a mobile QB and a well coached defense, they just don’t have a lot this year. Edited September 11 by catdaddyp

We could go for a good stomping of an opponent, regardless of who they are.

Akron fans have already seen the worst in the last five years, we're pretty desensitized to it by now. I imagine we'll win this game by 7, and then beat Kent State. Would be nice to get another win against Buffalo or something. 3-9, 2-6 MAC.

Short of him resigning to take another job, for the good of the bad, Moorhead is here until the end of his contract.

Just when I think there are a few wins to be had in the MAC schedule for Zippy and Crew, NIU knocks off ND, BGSU plays really well against #8 Penn State, and EMU somehow did not seem all that bad in a loss to Washington. Or is Penn State really overrated?

PSU will lay a big egg at some point and likely end up as a playoff bubble team.

Captain Kangaroo
I still have faith in Joe. He's been dealt a really difficult hand with taking over such a moribund program that was at the absolute lowest point. And now the budget cuts. I still like this team. The P5 September meat grinder will end soon enough and I expect a .500 season in the MAC. Finley will get some time to throw, and the RB's will get some holes to hit. That'll give the D a few breathers. Pushing up against opposing linemen who will be selling pipe and wire in a couple years instead of playing in the NFL will also help the Zips finish games stronger.

Something about NE Ohio football fans and losing their minds after a few games. Between the Zips and Browns, I have watched nothing but losing ball for almost my entire life. I'm not going to give up after 0-2. Especially when the Zips first 4 games are against two BigTen teams and one SEC team. Just have to stay as healthy as possible and hope for the best during conference play. Having said that, if we don't win Saturday by double digits I may join the doomers lol. 1981 grad
Can somebody please tell me we will not have to listen to nonstop blaring music during every stoppage that gives the few people that attend these games a blazing headache. Can't we just have the band play during a few timeouts? 3

I won't be able to attend but if anyone is so inclined, I would be interested to know what the blaring music decibel level is, especially at the south end. There are phone apps that allow you to easily measure it.
LZIp
I don't find the volume of the music to be any different than any other FBS or NFL game I've been to. Might just feel a little out of place considering how sparse/dead our crowd usually is.

The “get off my lawn” crowd needs to lighten up! Edited September 12 by MangoZip
Lee Adams
What I have seen from 2 blowout games is very similar to last season. ONE exception I think. Finley seems to be an upgrade at QB. Even though he is playing behind a poor O line and a still suspect running game. I hope he doesn't get injured any more than he is. The defense is still getting gouged by teams that run right at them. NIU has them circled again. If Colgate has any kind of O line they are at least gonna try it. If Akron doesn't win by double digits this thing is worse than I thought. Forget South Carolina. Ohio is the real marker for this team. Lets cool it with the 'fire the coach' talk. Moorehead should get the rest of this season no matter what. Just like last season if there is no improvement in October/November then make your decision.
