Vince Kehres isn’t coming to Akron. He has the third ranked D in the country. He will either replace Candle or move with him. Or worst case, stay put as D coordinator, if Candle doesn’t move, while entertaining better G6 positions. We could’ve possibly had him after Arth.
-
i'd like to see Goodrich look at someone local like Kehres or Tyrell. They are doing great things at Mt Union (Toledo) and Hoban. Right?
-
And I'm not saying George can't do well. Let's just wait until he has success before we praise him for it. We can check back in 2-3 years. Edit: As for Deion Indiana is just as hard, if not harder, to win at than Colorado. Especially since the Big 10 is vastly more competitive compared to the Big 12. The coach that deserves praise for turning a program around is Cignetti. Deion had a heisman winner and is still only 16-19 during his tenure.

And so it begins ... Life of the NIL ERA

I mentioned this a while back, but Louisville contacted an Akron coach regarding a Zips WR that was in the portal last year. They were looking to build "the best scout team possible" and if the kid was deemed a decent MAC-level player they were going to offer him a little cash and a position on it. The Zips can't pay as much for a starting QB as Louisville...not Alabama, but Louisville... can pay for a scout team guy. -
I'm stoked to see JoeMo's read-option finally run with a dual threat QB. That's kinda the whole point of the scheme. Finley wasn't keeping too many defenses off balance with his playmaking ability. 😂 But our Dual Threats are only going to be a redshirt freshman & a true freshman, so... yeah.

If he leaves, I think it’ll be to take an OC position in the B1G. I understand the ACC is still considered a Power Four conference, but just barely—they’re more of a hoops conference, and I’m not sure going from HC here to OC at VT would be much of a vertical move considering he's been an OC at bigger programs. Plus, VT just spent $8 million on Sam Levitt. And with the emergence of a very competent AD, I think he stays put.
-
I would assume neither of those bloggers know the budget issues Joe's dealt with either...
-
I’m sure there will be many twists and turns until something is announced but there certainly is no shortage of accolades for Joe and speculation about his future on X.

I completely forgot he went to my middle school. He was the class below me!

QB will be by far the biggest factor this offseason

The only problem is that I believe the TV contract does dictate for some of the rivalry games to be played on the weeknight games. But yeah...let's open the schedule with Kent...I'm sure Miami/Ohio and Bowling Green/Toledo (that one sold out Doyt Perry this year) would also like to always keep those games on Saturdays.

And now Deion has set up the departure on his own terms for medical reasons before they totally fall off the cliff back to mediocrity or worse. AD is already out there so another reason he has leave on his own terms vs get fired. Deion came in and he and his sons cashed in from both the University and all the endorsements that went along with it. Brilliant.

Anybody surprised Arizona is ranked 4th in the nation? Not me.

I think Bethune is supposed to be good this year? They’ve had a gauntlet so far. 193 in KenPom despite the record

I don't know, but he has a two week head start on the rest of college football and Franklin is already in place. Announcing a coordinator hire this early in the recruiting process could be helpful in securing key players from the TP.

Early Football Previews and Predictions: Game Twelve at Bowling Green

Maybe the conversation could sound something like this. "Mr. Commissioner, you are killing us with the schedule. All we ask is to play our rival when the weather is nice on a Friday early in the season so we can have a decent crowd. You did it for the BG/Toledo rivalry and all they did was sell out a stadium and put on a very exciting game. We all know the only people dedicated to weeknight games are drunks and degenerate gamblers. Gamblers will bet on anything and drunks will drink to anything, so trading Kent for another MAC school on a Tuesday night won't matter. Would it be too much to ask for you to dislodged your head from your ass for a few minutes to schedule the Akron/Kent rivalry early in the season?" There you go. Problem solved. -
Early Football Previews and Predictions: Game Twelve at Bowling Green

For those of us who actually follow the MAC we understand how difficult injuries can be on a team. Nick Saban isn't going to win in the MAC with bach up quarterbacks. Let's review. Before the injury bug got them, they had wins against Liberty, Lafayette and a Toledo team that could finish with 8 wins and a bowl. BG was easily on their way to a bowl and an outside shot at Detroit based upon their remaining schedule. I know how easy (lazy) it is to use facts as reasons. The fact is BG is on a long losing streak. The reasons are pretty clear. To think Eddie George, Nick Saban, Woody Hayes or anyone else would couch their way out of it would be stupid. George made the FCS playoffs last year at a school that I don't think had ever made it. Sanders won at Jackson State. Colorado is a black hole of college football misery and long term success there isn't realistic. BG isn't a black hole and I anticipate him doing well there for as long as he wants to. -
