  1. Past hour
  2. I'm unconcerned if someone was a back up player last year and a starter this year. We can't play against last year's team. Players can improve over the off season. If a starter goes down, there's a big problem to deal with at the G5 level and most of P5. Depth in college football is horrible and compound that with the lack of continuity because of the transfer portal, injuries kill. The question then becomes how does Akron exploit this bad hand WY has been dealt? Attack the backup players in the run game?... That's what they do in the NFL. Prepare for more WY run and pass blitz packages?....I would because backups can't get as much pressure as starters and blitzing helps support them. If a backup is a weak link, how do the Zips block him with one lineman while double teaming Wyoming's better players?....makes sense to me.
  3. Today
  4. They’re in a similar spot to us along the D-Line right now—either last year’s backups or new transfers will be stepping into starting roles. So, they’re still figuring out exactly what they’ve got. I agree that depth matters, but there’s also a chance the guys who went down weren’t going to be impactful contributors anyway. One was projected to start, but the last time he saw the field was 2023 and even then, it was in a backup role with fewer than 75 snaps all season. If I’m the head coach, I’m more concerned with the trend here—three achilles injuries? That’s not normal. One or two, sure, that happens. But three? I’d be taking a hard look at whatever the strength and conditioning staff is doing with these guys.
  5. Yesterday
  6. Good information. Much needed news for the Zips who have a lot of questions to answer on the O line. This is not insignificant. Injuries are killers in football. Depth is important as players can't play every play. At G5 schools, it's hard to find really good starters and even more difficult to coach your way out of injuries. Coaches are only as good as their players.
  7. Doubt this matters too much at this point, as there’s still plenty of time to figure things out, but Wyoming is already down three defensive linemen for the season—a projected starter at DT, a backup DT, and a backup DE.
  8. First recruit for 2027. Plays club at Cleveland Force and played with several current Zips at Akron City FC this summer. https://www.instagram.com/p/DM2md5TsUY9/?igsh=MXgyYnJvazg3cHVmZA==

  9. With Haliburton out for the season and Myles Turner signing with the Bucks, the Pacers will be a shadow of what they were this past season.
  10. Marco Micaletto with a fantastic assist…
  11. I never really had an NBA team, so Rique was my excuse to root for the Pacers last year. It was a very fun team, I'm excited for him but bummed he's not a part of it now. Guess I'll buy a Wolves jersey now 😂
  12. Last week
  13. I guess I'll have to overlook my disdain for Anthony Edwards. Go T-wolves!
  14. Don't you dare bad mouth the popcorn. Shriveled up hot dogs and questionable burgers? Sure. The popcorn has nostalgic immunity to criticism though.
  15. Great news!!! I guess it was a done deal but had to wait until today to announce it. I hope he continues to improve and Indy regrets their decision to release him.
  16. I'm so happy I don't have to root for the Pacers anymore! 🙌 Go Wolves.
  17. Signed with the T-Wolves this morning
  18. Bring in a couple food trucks and make an event out of it. Bring in some pop-up restaurant people. Get rid of the stale popcorn vendors.
  19. Wish they would ditch aramark, trash quality imo.
  20. Pretty sure there is a dead period right now for contracts.
  21. How did this go? I was in town for meetings and hoped to stop by, but The meetings went too long. Were there a lot of Zips there? Any thoughts offered on all the fall sports?
  22. The other thing about TDS is their main metric is their own internal player rankings which are at best only somewhat informed, especially when you get outside the top 20 or so that are already pros.
  23. Thanks, my main realistic idea is a reusable souvenir popcorn bucket and drink. You would pay like $50 and get unlimited popcorn for the season!
  24. Top Drawer soccer(TDS) released today...their July recruiting rankings for Fall 2025. It is a premium article...so you will probably only be able to see the top 5 teams that they have rated. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/2025-mens-di-recruiting-rankings:-july_aid54877 I never put much stock in their recruiting ratings....because 1) TDS only has 2 or 3 employees so it is impossible for them to be aware of every talented high school player, every international player and every college transfer.....and most importantly - 2) they can't accurately rate Akron because Akron has not yet released their fall signing class. TDS is not aware of the May transfer windown players that the Zips are bringing in. They are also not aware of any freshman joining the team from Europe. UCLA #1 ; Portland #2 ; North Carolina #4 and Maryland #5 in recruiting rankings...are not included in the top 25 preseason ranking done by the United Soccer coaches. Stanford at #3 in the recruiting rankings...is the only top 5 recruiting school ranked in the pre season team rankings. TDS has Akron ranked at #43....Again, I think that Akron is under ranked.....as the Akron new player announcement will includes players that TDS does not know about....and ZNO posters (like us) do not know about. Hopefully, we have some good transfers coming in and some freshman internationals. Jared and his coaches (unless the rules have changed) can begin coaching the players 15 days before the regular season opener, With the opener at VCU on Aug. 21, that would mean that Jared and team can begin active coaching on August 6. I would anticipate that the new Zips fall player announcement will come on August 5 or August 6. 43. Akron (39) Commitments: M Braxton Hayes (Nashville SC – No. 116), GK Gavin Crane (Cleveland Force), F Aljaz Dodig (Celje), M Logan LaMaina (Sporting Athletic), D Jose Pedro (Rio Ave), D Jamai Royer (Vaughan SC) Transfers: M Jack Sullivan (Saint Louis), M Abdi Bahur (East Tennessee Sate), M Tyler Morck (St. John’s), D Freddy Kossehasse (Iowa Western Community College) Georgetown is the highest rated big east team....in the recruting rankings 8. Georgetown (8) Commitments: F Charlie Rosenthal (LAFC – No. 44), M/D Timothy Logan (New York Red Bulls – No. 97), M/F Casey Milliken (NEFC – No. 124), D William Caldwell (Toronto FC), M Loukas Maroutsis (AEK Athens), M Noah Satriano (Baltimore Armour), GK Dimy Toruba (Inter Miami CF) Transfers: D Jackson Lindimore (Indiana) There are several programs staking a strong claim on this last spot. Georgetown holds the edge as the attacking reinforcements of Rosenthal and Milliken offer high-level promise. Lindimore is a big-time add via the transfer portal. Maroutsis is a late addition, joining from a club in Greece. Other teams that are included in the recruiting rankings St. Louis is #9 in the recruiting rankings. They have signed 4 freshman that are ranked in the top 200 incoming domestic freshamen (Akron has 1...Braxton Hayes) not on Akron's schedule....Pittsburgh was #19 in the June recruits/transfer rankings. Pitt jumped to #12 in July rankings due to adding Josh Hardin from Akron. Ohio State is #19 West Virginia is #37 Cornell is #42
  25. I'm not sure what's happened as to the Enrique to Minnesota rumors. It seemed pretty solid the night of the alumni game.
