IMO this just comes off as a coach trying to deflect the blame from himself. I don't follow KSU basketball, but this will be his 3rd straight losing season in conference play and 3rd straight year of missing the big dance. He's solely responsible for assembling this roster so if he's not happy with the players on his team frankly he has nobody to blame but himself.

I wouldn't see why this proposed playoff would need 24 or 32 teams. The main CFP only has 12 to begin with. No need for G6 to have more than that.

To the extent we're not way past this point, we are now at this point where there needs to be a G6 playoff. If worried about "number of postseason teams," make it 24 or 32 teams and do home games for the higher seed (since the bowls aren't gonna matter). Something tells me a playoff game at Waldo would have drawn better than the 9K in Myrtle Beach, even if it were cold. Obviously there's some moving parts with TV availability and such, but I would think this is a net positive financially for the G6 than the bowls are (even if you averaged out the loss of the ESPN Invitational spot/s)...at the very least you're losing half the travel since someone would be at home.

Anyone know the last time Huggins made an appearance at the JAR for a game? I imagine it has to have been quite some time as I don't recall hearing about it and I'm sure he was too busy while coaching at WVU.

Exactly, too much money to go around, not enough players worth the money. Paying guys to be difference makers, but in reality they're at best role players at the elevated level.

I will keep the original post updated as we move closer to the tournament. The bottom half of the MAC is so close that I am guessing we won't know our first round opponent until the final day of the regular season.

At what point do the G5 schools figure out that when the bowls are gone, they have no avenue to the post season and start their own division? Why aren't they actively and publicly doing it now?

If YSU presently has the budget, the Zips should too?

Before NIU the closest MWC school was Wyoming. NDSU has more juice than other MAC programs. I'd rather have NDSU and go west than Buffalo/UMass heading east

He needs to realize that throwing money at players that are not high quality Big-12 starter level talents will not produce wins. I love Nate and think he made the right call in setting himself up for a lifetime but he and players of his talent level aren't difference makers at that level of college basketball.
