  1. Might as well start this, and we can add to it when we have more information. We/I have not seen the Spring schedule yet, but I for one cannot wait to see our team back in action. I'm especially interested to see who steps up to potentially replace Ben Lundt and Abdi Mohamed as starters. Of course, we're still awaiting the official announcement of our 2019 recruiting class. Although, for 2019, the Soccer signing period began November 14, 2018, our coaches and team were a little busy at the time. Very much looking forward to reading about the talented players who will be joining our championship caliber program.

  4. I think some of that was precipitated by KD's departure and the transfer out of so many players and the demands of college basketball to get things up to speed quickly. He had a lot of spots to fill in short order and the quickest way to do that is JUCOs and transfers. I suspect, and hope, that will settle out.

  6. I talked with a well respected Ohio high school football coach this morning. He said we should be excited about Arth. Called him the real deal. He thinks Arth will make inroads with Ohio recruiting.

  9. With all the bricks our players have been shooting the last 3 games, by the end of the season we will have enough materials to build that wall.

  12. I'm hearing that Groce is about to float an offer to a trio of JUCO transfers.

  16. 2 high school players are already signed for next season. Along with one transfer currently sitting out and 1 JUCO guy also signed.

  17. I feel we'll settle upon an 8 man rotation with Poke and Walter only getting a minute or 2 here or there. I don't see where Poke will be able to pick up meaningful minutes. There is no way I want any combination of Riak, Sayles, and Poke on the floor at the same time. That means there is only 40 minutes to go around for all 3. Riak and Sayles are both capable of giving you 20 minutes so it leaves Poke as the odd man out.

  18. Agreed. However, I think 'tragic' would be a better word. I wish Groce would abandon the 'quick fix' approach with all these transfers. Too much roster turn-over from last season and it's likely to happen again. No stability. I understand that he has aspirations beyond Akron, and I don't hold this against him, but I think the best route at this point is to start recruiting 4 year players, OF CHARACTER, that can rebuild this program. Not major program rejects and/or JC problem children. If he is indeed the talented coach that we think he is, good things will come. For him and our team. my 2 cents..........

  20. I agree, LCJ is in the middle of a severe 5 game slump and really we have no option but continue riding him in hopes he will figure things out. Cheese is listed as the backup pg, but he looks much better when he's playing off the ball compared to when he's trying to create offense for others

  21. Why would you put yourself through that torture?

  22. Yeah...if he'd have punched a few Huskie starters into unconsciousness around the 12:00 minute mark, I think we'd have pulled out the "W."

  24. According to 247 Sports Shelton Felton a QC coach at Tennessee bailed on them and reunited with Arth, Looks like he left UTC to go to UT then decided he liked Arth better. Says he was a recruiter on the road at UT. Ummmm

  25. Either the basketball IQ on this team is low, or these guys just don't have the heart to compete at a high level. Boxing out is ignored, offensive players think they're on the playground with the ability to body defenders and muscle their way to the basket, fouling people on 3 point attempts, LCJ doesn't know he's 5'8" sometimes and throws up crap that's easily blocked. You can see what Groce is trying to do. The intensity on defense and overall hustle is there at times, the ball movement is spotty yet flashes of greatness are seen. However, I don't think the players are fully bought in, or if they have bought in, I don't think they have the mental game (at least not yet) to carry out the game plan. There are a lot of holes and mental lapses. This program was left a heaping pile of crap on top of a strong foundation. That foundation is currently corroding with the crap that still sits on it. I have the utmost faith in Groce - that has not wavered. Right the ship and be ready for March.

  26. We're going to have to make a 3. They're packing the paint to prevent dribble peneyration.

  27. Groce needs to work on his half time speech. For the second game in a row we come out flat in the second half and lose the lead. I have seen more Roscoe this game than any other game. Glad to see Sayles look like he wants the ball and going to the hoop. Utomi cannot buy a 3.

  30. I don't think your thoughts are correct. There was never any hope that he would get new commits prior to December 31st. And he stated he would not pressure any incumbent recruits/commits to sign. It would have been a low-rent move to have a handshake agreement that he become the head coach, but wait to officially sign him until January 1st. And I'm sure there would have been some sort of lawsuit if we'd have tried it. Who cares about the $350,000? It is chump change in the world of D-1 athletics. The Nebraska game that we didn't play footed the bill, with $300,000 left over. The South Carolina game paid for Bowden's buyout, with $600,000 left over. Notre Dame paid Charlie Weis $19,000,000 not to coach the Irish. Kansas then paid him $5,650,000 to not coach the Jawhawks
