  4. Hope everyone is doing well, i keep up but don’t comment much but I have seen every Hoban football game for 4 seasons 18-21 to watch my nephew now playing at Stonehill. Hoban is a machine but wouldn’t want Coach T coaching my Zips. I liked Bowden because he gave Dusty a chance but Morehead in year one in my humble opinion has provided the best overall staff & I believe the roster could be its best this year from end to end. Scouting is so difficult and so many coaches follow protocols, height, weight, speed etc. Trayunum now at Ohio State is the best player I watched at Hoban. Peterson is very good & will make some noise this year Clark’s knee injury was more serious than most people realize, he had complete knee ligament tears & nerve damage. He had the measurable’s Fox was big for a WR, thick, a little slow, was a safety but from what I understand didn’t want to make the change Rumler may be able in the mix this year I believe Dawson led the NEC in rushing this year, same league my nephew is in. I told my brother & nephew all along he was height challenged to play D1, he was a 4 year letter winner & 3 year starter Sperling is an absolute beast but I see why no real interest at D1 level at about 5’8”. He held up in high school being way over used so he may surprise at the next level Hopeful this is our year to take off Go Zips 🦘

  5. I think we're 8-1 in MAC play when NWAkron "...has a bad feeling about this game." How you feeling about Friday? @NWAkron😀

  6. Did this game fall exactly on the over/under? 145. And a classic post from the Buffalo Bulls message board: Big 4 Hoops Blogger Posted 9 minutes ago I think we're at the point where the results speak for themselves. Akron is good but they're not talented to the point where they should be handling UB on the road.

  7. I wish once when the announcers talk about the Zips losing to Ball State they would mention that Castaneda did not play.

  11. Not being affiliated with GVArtwork, while not having a competitive secondary option, is a massive mistake. On top of GVArtwork's products being top-notch, their social media presence and reach is worth it alone. They have quite the following among the base we need to be attracting.

  12. At a position of need too. As long as he plays with the effort Groce requires at the defensive end, he should have opportunities to earn playing time.

  16. The 18-4 PCCC Golden Flushes make their annual trip from Brimfield to the JAR Friday night to renew the rivalry and determine first place in the MAC. Insincere Carry leads Mr. Pinky’s squad at 17.3 ppg per game. Malique Jacobs averages 12.3 ppg while kicking in 4.9 rpg. The game is at 9:00 p.m. Bring your long johns as the temperature could be in single digits by game time. I will not be able to attend as I will be out of town. If anyone can use my GA ticket, shoot me a PM.

  17. This is true. If they wanted to come home I'd still take Darryl Peterson & AJ Kirk though.

  19. In fact, the only player from the tweet below who has seemingly recorded a single stat in their first 2 years in FBS football is Darryl Peterson.

  20. Speaking of Hoban guys and not living up to the hype, I randomly saw a tweet from Brayden Fox (I believe the Brayden Fox from Hoban) who originally signed with Rutgers and then transferred to Toledo. He isn't on Toledo's roster anymore and appears to be in Arizona and started some media business.

  21. If only someone in the media would ask Joe what the deal was with him. Instead, we have a city full of people that simply think UA is dumb for “not recruiting” him when nobody has been told what happened. Will he be a rare Hoban guy to live up to the hype? Time will tell.

  26. I say we fire Moorhead and tell the next coach he’s never allowed to interview for another position. That’s the secret to success and will have candidates lining up out the door. Another happy day in the football forums!

  27. A different type of win. Lots of turnovers and fewer trips to the foul line than the opponent. BUT...ironically, I was telling someone today about Freeman and Castaneda and how Zips have two guys on the floor who can go off for 30.

  28. Tribble can’t dribble because he plays like a six foot one power forward.

  29. Groce demands a sell-out Friday. Joe Akron would probably still rather watch the Cavs play Opponent X with both teams’ starting 5 on load management.

  30. Eh, while nobody from Bowden left that I recall (probably because they were just coasting to the end of their careers), even Arth had multiple guys move up. One guy to the Packers, one to the Chargers, one to Tulsa, and one to Michigan State off the top off my head.

  31. Seems like every teams plan is to isolate one of the duo and hope the other one has a down night. Need X or freeman to be on point Friday and best case scenario both for a big win. Bench needs to be ready to make some points too. Whether it’s Tribble, hankerson, hunter, Johnson and Johnson we need some people to clutch up. Wish we had Dawson

  35. Joe would be a moron not to take the interview. At the same time, the belief is he isn't expected to leave Akron. In addition, this is quite the selling point to recruits. "Our head coach and offensive guru is being targeted by an NFL team and Bama for OC positions." Pieces of our staff leaving for "higher" positions is a great sign for the health of our football program. JoeMo has the ability to identify great young coaches, and current staff moving upward from Akron will be a bat signal for more great, young minds to come here and learn under JoeMo while he's here. Side note. Josh Gattis was just let go by Miami FL as their OC. Someone made the point that Mario Cristobal has had 3 OCs not succeed with him as head coach, all of whom are considered some of the brightest offensive minds in the game (Moorhead, Gattis - who is JoeMo's protégé - and I forget the 3rd) and had tons of previous success. The U is in trouble.

  39. I miss the old "first Wednesday in February" signing day. I used to go down to the University for every press conference. There were always some good stories. Coaches would give a power point highlighting all the recruits and say a little about them. Many names were a surprise...not like now, where every player and school can announce their commitment via their own social media. One funny memory - Eugene Jarvis was being recruited by both Kent and Akron. Once Jarvis' power point slide showed up, Brookhart raced through it...I guess Jarvis had decommitted, and chose Kent at the absolute last second. My favorite quip: Kent recruited 3 players from McKinley's '97 state championship team. A reporter told Lee Owens - "Dean Pees is bragging how he stole DeMarlo Rozier from you." Owens replied - "I think DeMarlo looked at our roster, and figured his best chance to get playing time would be at Kent." Note - Owens was 7-2 vs. Kent in his 9 years at UA. Reno Ferri once met a bunch of ZN.o members at the Barley House and gave a first hand account of all the recruits. Other coaches were there having some beers to celebrate the close of the recruiting reason. Fun times...I miss those days.

  40. Ohio just loves being in the middle of BF nowhere and wearing that as a badge of honor. But OU really is awesome. They have probably the nicest campus in the league, and the nicest arena. But haven’t won a football title in *checks notes* 55 years and just lost to rinky-dink Akron while giving up a 30-piece to a walk-on who wore braces last year as tournament MVP. Man, I’d love to be a Bobcat. Did you know they have 2 breweries in town AND a Taco John’s?!?! Best we can do is about 15 breweries and Swenson’s ☹️

  47. I like this offer. Wiley seems to have plenty of leg strength and accuracy (at least when not pressured). Something our PK’s lacked this past year past 39 yards. Smigel and Perez combined for 5 of 6 when kicking field goals 39 yards and in. 3 for 10 beyond 39 yards.
