really good result for St. John's on the road St. John's and #8 Georgetown battle to 1-1 tie....at Georgetown SJ now has 12 points in league Georgetown is 5-1-1 and has 16 points Xavier and Villanova also play to 1-1 tie at Villanova Xavier moves to 12 points in league Villanove has 5 points DePaul leads Seton Hall 2-0 at half time If Creighton wins at home today, Creighton would move into first place in the Midwest division with 13 points. If Creighton loses or ties against UConn, the Zips (with a win tonight)could be in a tie with Xavier (at the top of the Midwest) with 12 points after today;s game Let's get 3 points tonight, zippers !!!5 points

Although I can't completely blame him for yelling. That was a really obvious pass interference call.4 points

Being an old timer, I recall a Lee Owens team starting off a season something like 0-7, with horrific QB play, and Lee pulled Greg Gromek’s redshirt. And the Zips won their last 4 games. I’m hanging myself in my basement using a crudely assembled noose right now, so I can’t verify that exactly. But that was my late-90’s recollection. stupid electrical cord keeps breaking…guess I’ll have no choice but to go to the Kent game. 🦅 🦨3 points

You can crank on the Jack in the Box handle for only so long before the interception puppet pops out. It’s just a matter of time….3 points

I just checked our record in the last 5 years (2018-2023) and we are 6 and 43 with a total of 3 conference wins. We have watched some really bad football the last 5 years. It is amazing that Akron football has any fans. Watching our offense last week for 3 quarters was painful, especially the decision not to switch quarterbacks until the 4th quarter. However, the defense this year except for Northern Illinois has been good and has kept us in games. The Indiana game was fun to watch until the very end. I am just hoping for a competitive game where our defense keeps us in the game and our offense is watchable.3 points

What's more, if the D is giving up on games, the coach risks having them give up on the program and leave en masse if he doesn't give them some offensive help and hope for the future.2 points

Still out-gaining them. Lol. What would our record be if we tripled Lingard’s touches? Bowl game would still be a good possibility.2 points

If Zips lose this game we need to start Jennings or Wasel next week. Just see what they have. All QBs who have played so far all suck.2 points

As loooooooooooooooooong suffering Zips fans we've come to have such great expectations 🫣😢😢2 points

This doesn’t make any sense. How does WVU beat Marshall 5-2 and is #5? Akron beat FIU and Vermont and is ranked way below. I guess we just need a statement win against Marquette tomorrow2 points

Kobe Johnson scored 32 points last night as Walsh upset D1 Oakland. Good job, Kobe! It's good he's found a level where he can excel, but what raises my eyebrow is that he did this against a D1 team. Every time he was on the floor with the Zips he looked like a deer in headlights and as if the defenders were just a little bit too quick for him & made him rush his shot just a bit too much.2 points

Final home game of the 2023 season. Let’s hope to see the Zips make a statement for the committee1 point

In the 2:00 and 3:30 games... DePaul 3 Seton Hall 1 DePaul now has 5 points Seton Hall stays at 7 points credit to DePaul. They started the league campaign with an 0-4-0 mark. DePaul is 1-0-2 in their last 3 games and they have a winnable last game against Villanova UConn 2 Creighton 0 game was at Creighton ...really good road win for U Conn UConn now has 12 points Creighton stays put with 10 points 2 games left to be played today Current point totals for the teams that have played 7 games East Division Georgetown 16 points St. Johns 12 points UConn 12 points Seton Hall 7 points Villanova 5 points Providence has only played 6 games. Providence currently has 11 points and plays at Butler tonight MidWest Division Xavier 12 points Creighton 10 points DePaul 5 points as mentioned, Bulter hosts Providence....Butler currently has 6 points Our beloved Zips host Marquetter. Marquette currently has 4 points. Akron currently has 9 points. Zips can move into a first place tie in the Midwest division with a win tonight. And no, I have no idea......what the tiebreaker(s) is if the Zips and Xavier finish in a tie for the Midwest Division. The winner of the Midwest division will be the #2 seed in the Big East Conference tournament. Let's get a win tonight, Zips !!!1 point

It's almost like Undercuffler doesn't see the rush coming. Stands there like a statue. Why are we not playing the freshman?!1 point

The record for lowest attendance for a UA game at Infocision is 838 vs UMass in 2014. Black Friday vs. OU may rival that. This is a total failure of a season, every bit as bad as 2018.1 point

We are playing like a terrible football team. Why even try to throw the ball on 3rd and 25. Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!1 point
-
I don't even need to see them throw many points on the board. The key is making sure they have the fundamentals, arm talent, etc.1 point

The receivers have to help the quarterback. Daniel George, go to the ball if it is thrown short. That should have been a completion. He was flatfooted. Should not happen at this level.1 point

Lingard with the kangaroo hop TD celebration haha! Can we petition the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility for him? "Dear NCAA, We would formally like to petition for one more year of eligibility for Lorenzo Lingard. We wasted his first and potentially only year at Akron, and would like one more chance to make it right. Sincerely, JoeMo"1 point

Given the closer alignment with RPI in the past, I'm happy to see the committee give our team this respect and include us in the Top 16. Hopefully, we get a win tonight, and the week off between this match and the next allows for some additional recovery. Would be great to see the 2023 Zips get hot near the end of the season like the 2018 Zips and make a great run.1 point

I can’t believe I still get excited…but here I am! 🤡 At this point, I’m far too invested not to stick around. I do wish we were on a bye this week though. This has been a lot of non-stop trauma. Edit: also considering the strategy of not watching and listening only or checking in from time to time. We’ll see.1 point

Please please please just admit it…. the polls were more relevant than the rpi. 😎 Mr KnowItAll himself gets it wrong this time. Victory for the unmoaning folk out there.1 point

Very nice win for the women and coaches. These past three matches have seemed to see a change in philosophy of play, with tons of shots and shots on goal, and some gutsy play, like they're playing to win rather than playing to not lose. Hopefully a learning experience for the staff and the team. Way to go Zips!1 point

Good for RayJ. Waco is fantastic and their coach is apparently quite the human being. My wife and I honeymooned in Waco, and our Fixer Upper tour guide was good friends with the coach. Learned a lot about him. He'll actually experience success in March!1 point
