We are so fortunate to have Reagan and Enrique as the faces of our basketball teams.5 points

ALL-MAC TEAMS CJ Nunnally = 1st Team Daniel George = 2nd Team Jasaiah Gathings = 2nd Team Bryan McCoy = 3rd Team KJ Martin = 3rd Team I figured Gathings had a shot, although I didn’t think it would be 2nd team. George is a surprise. I thought he had a good year, but would be left off as he didn’t have the stats to back it up. Same with KJ Martin. Also surprised Fish was left off.4 points

Disappointing but not unexpected loss. The guards are certainly behind where I thought they would be. Given what we've seen of John Groce I have faith in him figuring it out and getting the team on track.4 points

Akron finishes behind Kent, Temple, and tOSU in final Bottom Ten. We are the superior inferior.3 points

From a stats POV this game seemed very even. I didn't get to watch the game, only listen, but it seemed like it came down to just the turnover battle and some poor shot selection on a couple possessions. 18 TO is pretty rough, we gotta just take care of the basketball. We were 12-12 on FTs, 8-18 on 3s, and won the total rebounds by 3. If we can replicate these 3 stats, we should win 80-85% of the time. This team has tremendous potential and is still the top of the MAC. Take care of the basketball, make your free throws, and take smart shots, that is how this team is going to win.3 points

Johnson and Thorton were a combined 0 points and 5 turnovers. Groce is a master at finding great guards. This team is just not meshing right now. He went with Thornton instead of Johnson as a starter and they both played bad. Neither one can penetrate and finish at the rim and they have not been scoring from the outside. We can live with them being facilitators but not turning the ball over.3 points

Most impactful MAC players to hit the portal so far: WR - Trayvon Rudolph (NIU) LB - Shaun Dolac (Buffalo) QB - Cole Snyder (Buffalo)2 points

So a woman abuser, who is somehow allowed to coach just a year removed from strangling his wife, gets a key player on a two time transfer waiver at a P5 school. Such bullshit.2 points

We aren’t as good as I thought we’d be this season. Ali, or no Ali. March is a long ways away, but I expected us to make some noise in the OOC portion of the schedule. I was wrong.2 points

Another embarrassing half for a team of this level of experience. They certainly could be great, maybe even one of the best Akron teams ever. But there is hardly any cohesion right now. Shot-making was a nice deodorant for the first few games. Guards look way out of control and clueless every time down the floor. UNLV shooting the lights out doesn’t help. Just disappointing.2 points

Anderson showed some potential but he had 6 catches in 11 games for 40 yards on a team that won two games. Not a big loss. I wish we could put Gathings mouth the in transfer portal and retain his talent.2 points

I was disappointed in the Caymans. Something I always say is modern Basketball is a Guards game. having a big man is very important, but to win a MAC Title we are going to need to a Guard step up as the end of game guy. Castaneda was that guy. who is next... Freeman can't do it alone, and without Ali, I am afraid we might be in trouble. I think this game is the perfect time for someone to step up, if nobody does I worry the season could have a lower ceiling then I was hoping. Please let a Star be born tonight in Vegas!!!! Go Zips!2 points

The 4-3 Zips welcome the 6-0 Bradley Braves into the JAR next Tuesday. Bradley was predicted to finish third in the Missouri Valley Conference in its pre-season poll. Graduate Guard/forward Malevy Lewis was named to the preseason first team while senior guard Duke Deen was named to the third team. The Braves have two games between now and when they come to the JAR. Their record includes wins over common opponent Utah State and UAB and Vermont. The 6'9" Malevy leads Bradley scoring and rebounding at 15.5 ppg and 7.2 rpg. 6'3" junior guard Connor Hickman averages 13 ppp, leads the team in assists and looks to be their primary three point threat. Hopefully, the week off gives the Zips a chance to work out some of the kinks we've seen in the last couple of weeks. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see some more lineup/rotation adjustments.1 point

Good point about Terray Jones. Just looking at the 3rd team, Jones was just as good, if not better than Darius Alexander. I’d argue Fish was better than Kyle Moretti. Might have been one of those situations where the team record played a part? Hard to justify 7 players from a 2 win team making all conference.1 point

Makes sense. I would imagine Beamer is a bit more professional, too, and isn't riding motorcycles with a side chick he hired as a staff member.1 point

He has done Mount games for years. I believe he went to school there. He’s done with UA football, at least for the time being. Still will be there for most Zips men’s basketball games, MAC tournament, MAC football championship.1 point

KJ Jefferson will likely be headed to South Carolina to replace Spencer Rattler and reconnect with Dowell Loggains.1 point

Last episode of the season. Much of what’s discussed this board has talked about at length, but worth a listen as Joe Dunn always does a great job. There is some recruiting talk near the end, though individual recruits cannot be mentioned by name until they’ve signed.1 point

I have not been impressed with any of our guards this game but I think Thornton has been the worse. I counted at least 4 turnovers on just bad passes.1 point

Kent yellow pee just ran down our leg on that last possession. Tribble HAS to go up strong. Pucker factor is high with this team right now. Lack of guard play is hurting us more than I thought.1 point

I’d kill for an Ali back to the basket right now. Freeman bringing the ball up—out of control. Scott—out of control. Thornton and Tavari—lucky to even get the damn thing over half court. Nate Johnson and Sammy Hunter—alligator arming everything they throw up there. So disappointed. Can’t say it enough. This is the furthest we’ve been from Akron Basketball in quite a while. Bradley will smoke us next week.1 point

Does Akron have a guard that can create a shot for himself? If not this team will be a repeat of last year's.1 point

It seemed to me Gathings kept the attitude in check a lot more during the OU game. Hopefully that for good.1 point

Two things that jumped out at me from the article- 1) "...certainly we tried to go through the process in a very respectful and professional manner." Time to give that up and turn on the heat. 2) "He is traveling with us to Vegas," Groce said. "... I love the kid." I think that show you the type of family relationships Groce builds with the kids on the team and I think that's fantastic.1 point

But we took out the seating behind the basket so 6 people get to drink cocktails at a small table behind the basket. We need to fill those tables!!!1 point

I did not want to say this, but you are correct. Ali met every stipulation that the NCAA put forth. If this was Duke/Kansas/Ect, he would be playing tonight!1 point

Probably could get them fairly cheap, just gotta contact all the MLB/NBA/NFL teams to get their stuff from 2020 out of storage.1 point

Ultimately a winning product is the best way to get more people to games, but the lack of ticket deals/promotions isn't helping either. Or, when they do have a promotion, nobody knows about it and/or it doesn't make sense (Ex: Youth Night was on a Wednesday night game this season).1 point

What would it cost to make about 20,000 cardboard cutout people? Now that would be a bit outside the box (and would look great on TV)1 point
