It's Groce. G-R-O-C-E. If you're going to be an ass, use proper spelling. Groce doesn't "over-coach". The succession rate of the plays he calls during timeouts can be questioned, but that's an execution issue - not an over-coaching issue. We are lacking guard play, you are correct, which means Groce should absolutely be calling timeouts to draw up plays and make sure the team is on the same page. If you have a solid floor general, those timeouts aren't as necessary. The name of the game is putting the ball in the hoop more often than your opponent. We simply didn't do that. One of the guards needs to figure out how to step up as a scorer next to Freeman, Ali Ali, and Tribble. We were right there at the end with one of the most experienced teams in the country. Pretty good showing that will sharpen our March iron. You should worry about scoring more than 3 points against Missouri; leave the Akron criticism to us Akron fans.

The deflection on that inbounds pass completely threw off that final play and turned it into 1 on 5 basketball. They need to work to transitioning into an effective on the fly play sometimes rather than go to the timeout, especially against a good defensive team.

Bonnie's defense won that. Zips are tough.

I think St. B is as good as any team they've seen all year. For the second half, get more damn movement when the ball goes into the post and cut off the St. B offensive rebounds. They've committed 10 fouls to the Zips 5 and outrebounded the Zips 19-13. Need to be more aggressive.

Agree. Just saying if you judged the majority of even these P5 freshman being paid massive amounts of NIl off their first start, they’d be at same level…not very good. It takes time. It also takes time for a Re-build. The one thing I think we should all expect from QB play to overall play is progress. That’s definitely not too much to ask.

Taj got two full games last season. Wasel got nothing. How do we know their true talent level? Taj came from P5. Wasel had lots of P5 interest and was ranked as the #9 dual threat in the nation by Rivaks until he committed here. While it’s no doubt important to get a good, experienced QB out of the portal, I think the statement above is unfair to two kids who have chosen to be here and haven’t had adequate time to show their abilities. We have to decide if we’re gonna give one of these guys or both time to develop and mature or do we want to continue to find experienced band aids who couldn’t make it at the higher level to probably leave after a year or graduate.

I agree with everything. OSU did have bad QB play, but they also have one HS All American QB after another on the team. They had 30 days to get one ready and another ready as a back up. It's a football factory and the production line is broken. 12 team playoff and a cake schedule guarantees they will get a post season beating next year as well.

I don't give much weight to bowl games, but OSU looks like a program in decline. Missouri is a low level SEC program having a once in a decade season.

There's a few decent teams, but probably not a 1-11 schedule.

John Groce never takes the Akron job if KD doesn't first build it into a perennial MAC power. I get people that were ready to move on, but I also can tell the people who don't remember (or choose not to remember) Zips basketball pre-KD. I'll never understand hating on him.
