  3. I have some news to break. Mrs GP1, the luckiest woman in the world, has been contacted about her interest in the Akron coaching job. Her qualifications include, but are not limited to: *Ability to put up with general nonsense. * MBA from UofA. * Ability to throw back martinis at Ken Stewart's in order to numb pain of losing. * Views cloudy days as a blessing.

  6. Considering how bad football is this year and basketball has not started, really happy to see how well Freeman is doing for the Pacers. This was an article before last nights game. Makes me wonder if Freeman might get a roster spot on the Pacers considering how he finished the preseason strong: Swider is still on the roster, but he does still have a battle with guard Quenton Jackson and rookies Enrique Freeman and Tristen Newton, who are currently on two-way deals. Swider's outside shooting gives him an advantage, as he's hit five 3-pointers in preseason play and shot 49.1% from 3-point range in Summer League play with the Miami Heat. However, Jackson and Freeman have had particularly strong camp performances so far. Freeman is averaging 7.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and Jackson is averaging 8.3 points per game.

  7. From the Indy Newspaper: Pacers 121, Hornets 116, end of overtime Enrique Freeman dominated overtime with nine points and the Pacers rallied back to win a game they trailed by as many as 16 points.

  8. If Moorhead leaves, I believe the top candidates are Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, Vince Lombardi and Curly Lambeau. That's as plausible and well researched as that article.

  9. Here are some rankings & stats that don’t show up on the MAC site: Run Blocking (MAC games only): 1 - WMU 2 - NIU 3 - Miami 4 - Ball 5 - CMU 6 - EMU 7 - BG 8 - Ohio 9 - Toledo 10 - Akron 11 - Buffalo 12 - Kent Pass Blocking (MAC games only): 1 - WMU 2 - NIU 3 - Ball 4 - Buffalo 5 - BG 6 - EMU 7 - Akron 8 - Miami 9 - Toledo 10 - CMU 11 - Ohio 12 - Kent Pass + Run Blocking (MAC games only): 1 - WMU 2 - NIU 3 - Ball 4 - Miami 5 - EMU 6 - BG 7 - Toledo 8 - Akron 9 - CMU 10 - Buffalo 11 - Ohio 12 - Kent - Our receivers have dropped 17 balls so far. To put that in perspective, we only dropped 17 all of last year. - Finley is completing 66% of his passes when kept clean compared to 45% under pressure. Adjusted without the drops would take those numbers up to 75% and 59% respectively. - Finley has thrown 4 of his 7 interceptions when “kept clean.” - It may not seem it, but the OL is actually giving Finley similar time as our opponents’ OLs are giving their QBs. - Runs off RT/TE have been our best rushing plays and we are averaging 7.8 yards per carry on it. - Norton has been the best blocking wide out. I think we all know this by now, but if we quit shooting ourselves in the foot, we’ll actually win some games.

  10. In order to keep Finley next season I’ve heard they’re going to make him player-coach, at half of Joe’s salary. A shrewd, outside-the-box way to circumvent the lack of NIL funds by Guthrie.

  12. Who said anything about elected Trustees? Have them nominated, vetted and approved by people of the University Community; not political hack appointments.

  15. Still holding out hope for Moorhead. Year 3 and he still doesn't have a true dual-threat QB to run his read option. That's concerning. He's got a true dual threat high school senior committed this year, but when will he be ready to contribute? By '27? I thought it was a very light-yellow flag when Moorhead couldn't get an Oregon QB (not even a walk-on) to transfer to Akron to compete for the starting job. I believe Oregon had 5 QBs on their roster when we hired him. Did none of them choose Oregon because they wanted to play for Moorhead? We couldn't even get one of their walk-ons? But, anyway, I'm still holding out hope for Moorhead.

He was a young contributor in 2014, where his famous breakout performance against Eden Hazard and Belgium put him on the map. He was then the calming veteran of the 2022 group which featured a team loaded with young stars. In between, though, Yedlin proved that he was one heck of a player, one with pace to burn that could make any defense uncomfortable. Yedlin has amassed 91 caps for the USMNT, with the first coming just months before the World Cup. He was a shock inclusion that summer, but he proved himself worth time and time again. A key player throughout some of those down years, Yedlin was the perfect veteran to help lead the new generation back to a World Cup.
