Since some people are drinking preseason hype kool-aid.
let’s start predicting W-L record for the 2023 zip football team.
I’m going to say 5-7.

put your record down.   No re do’s or adjustments.   If you think there are going to be 12-0 and hit a NYD bowl game.
put it down.

5-7

I posted this on 7/6 in the 2023 Season thread. I'll copy & paste here...

My projections (as of 7/6)

@ Temple - W

     Morgan State - W

@ Kentucky - L

@ Indiana - L

    Buffalo - W

    NIU - W

@ CMU - L

@ BUGS - W

    KSUcks - W

@ Miami - L

@ EMU - L

    Ohio - L

Total: 6-6

4-8 would be underperforming.

5-7 would meet expectations.

6-6 would exceed expectations but not out of the world of reality.

7-5 would almost be a miracle, but an early season win against Temple could gain enough moment to make it possible.

8-4. No way.

Temple is a very important game for the season.

I'll go 6-6 just because I'm a Zips fan. That means a bowl game and nearly as much enjoyment as I've had as Zips fan in my 13+ years following the program 🤢. Can't be greedy!

8-5

OC: 2-2  Temple-W How we look in Philly will tell us a lot.

MAC:  5-3 Tough bounces finally go our way, but just miss Detroit.  Wagon wheel comes home.

Bowl:  W  G5 match up

Put me down for 6-6. I will reserve my prediction for a bowl game when I learn of the opponent (but I like Catdaddyp's 8-4 better).

Better record this year, UA or ULM?

I believe ULM’s head coach is going for his 4th consecutive 4-8 season as a head coach. Could be a record of some sort, keep your eyes on them!

I just think it's harder to turn a team around, especially the shape it was in after the Arth debacle.

Respectfully disagree there. It’s easier than it’s ever been to turn around a program with the transfer portal. Only about 30 players remain from the Arth era.

You will pick up a few talented players, but teams in Akron's position are lucky to break even with the talent lost, and they aren't able to build the depth needed to win, quickly.

That’s actually the opposite of what’s happening. Make sure to check the 2023 MAC recruiting thread when the Rivals composite ratings are released.

The 2023 Composite Ratings have been posted and linked here. FYI, Akron is #1 in the MAC. Doesn’t fit a narrative of poor recruiting…
