Wonder if it was God’s plan? Seriously though, hate to see him go. D1 football has become such a cruel business, nodody has time to develop. If you fall to a certain level on the depth chart it’s chop time and bring on the next.

Kids want paid to play and want to transfer whenever they want, so decision makers at programs are treating it more like a business.

Just throwing this out there. We need QB depth, we've been "ass" for several years, and General Booty is available. Perfect fit if you ask me.

General Booty?  Is this guy like 40 by now?

When hasn't it been a business though?

I just know players were never "forced out" at anywhere close to the rate that they are now.

Blake seems like a good locker room presence. I know he was put in scholarship at one point, but no idea if that was just for one season or carried over.

Neither him or Wasel appear to be big losses for this season, but I’m much more comfortable with Hester transferring considering he’s 3rd or 4th on the depth chart in his 4th or 5th year of college. Whereas Wasel is just going into his redshirt freshman season. Still had a lot of time to develop.

Blake Hester is playing for a DII National Championship on Saturday, as Valdosta State takes on Ferris State.

Seems like he had a great season, with almost 1,000 yards rushing and 13 TDs.

Maybe we can get his brother Specific Booty.

Wasel on the move again.

He has nothing left to prove at Oklahoma I suppose.

(or so the coaches may have told him)

Steele Wasel signed with Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Almost all of the 2023 MAC prep QB class has turned out to be a bust. Rough.

Why would any G5 schools recruit high school QBs? The off-chance they play - and have success - as a freshman before transferring to a P4?

P4 schools say this too. Why recruit a HS QB to sit for a year or two and then transfer?

Exactly, and with the ever expanding eligibility for college athletes, high school recruiting is becoming more and more unnecessary.

I actually think QB might be the one position that it's useful to recruit straight out of HS. Even if they sit a year or 2 that gives them additional time to learn the system so those years aren't a complete waste.

Respectfully disagree. There is almost zero chance of a freshmen or RS freshmen staying if they don’t start. If they haven’t cracked the lineup then the staff is going right to the portal for a quick fix. The portal has ruined recruiting for HS QBs who aren’t 4 or 5 stars but could have been developed at the G5 level or even lower P4 programs.

This is for me the most disheartening outcome of the new era and where I find myself getting sentimental about the loss of the 'way it was' being a fan of a program and seeing the growth and maturity pay off with championships and the core/program stars basking in what those years of hard work delivered ... the Enrique experience for fb or bball is / will be few and far between. That's what many of us grew up appreciating and where the true fan experience came from, but alas...here we are. We root for a second year with Ben Finley. Go Zips!
