Zippy87
Figured I'd share for anyone else curious. Mikal Dawson is averaging 6 PPG in 23 MPG but his shooting numbers are ugly - 5-26 from the field overall and 4-19 from 3. Good kid, hope he can turn it around. Ryan Prather Jr. is playing well early for Robert Morris, starting and leading the team in scoring. He's averaging 13 PPG and shooting a red-hot 67% from deep range. Darrion Baker is averaging 7/2 in 15 MPG for SIU Edwardsville. 3

Nice to see Mike pick up with Marshall where he left off with the Zips!

Yeah, he's not looking good. I hate seeing it - he seems like a great young man and I think part of transferring was trying to get a fresh start and finish his career strong. kreed5120
He clearly hasn't been the same after the injury. I'm not sure if it's physical, mental, or a combination of both.

Reslife4Life
Watching the end of UD vs UNC where UD needs a missed free throw and tip in, reminds me no one is a better offensive rebounder on missed free throws than Mikal Dawson. Truly a master that I have never seen in any other player at any level
Blue & Gold
Darrion Baker is doing okay at SIUE. He hasn't started any games but is averaging 17 minutes/game 7.2 points/game (on .571 shooting - pretty good... but 0-5 on 3's) 5 rebounds/game I still think he's going to be a good one & so I'm still perplexed at his transfer. Has anyone heard any word on what may have prompted his transfer? Amani's development in practice over last season?

Even if Amani looked better over time, it's not like we couldn't use another big on this year's roster. It made me wonder if the coaches didn't feel Baker was as good as they originally thought. I wonder if their "all gas no brakes" vision for this year's squad didn't include Baker like they originally thought. Could be more of a system fit issue vs skill potential.
Z.I.P.
I just saw a Zips social media post showing Sammy Hunter and Xavier Castañeda as part of regional international FIBA qualifying tournaments and while Sammy playing for Bahamas was no surprise, it WAS unexpected to find Xavier in qualifying with the national team of Bosnia and Hertzegovina! Not Puerto Rico. How did THAT happen? Edited February 21 by Z.I.P.

Not Puerto Rico. How did THAT happen? Perhaps has a parent or grandparent from there. Another option is they gave him a passport (or whatever) to play for them. That's pretty common with many countries who want to grow soccer or basketball in their home country, but lack the home talent to qualify for a world cup or Olympics. I know the Phillipines actively has granted citizenship to get players. Turkey gave citizenship to Cedi Osman as well. There are countless other examples, but I don't care to take a deep dive into it. Edited February 21 by kreed5120
Zippy87
Dawson is having a nice bounceback year for Marshall. He's shooting 34.8% from deep, closer to the guy he was in 21-22. And he's shooting a TON of threes. He has 210 attempts in 28 games this season...he shot 170 in 35 games for us last year. Baker hasn't played for SIU since December 8th - appears he suffered an injury of some kind. Prather Jr. cooled down considerably after his hot start but is contributing as a rotation player. Bandaogo has been a solid starter for a pretty average Cincinnati team.

Robert Morris seems like a perfect fit for him.
Reslife4Life
Not a former zip but remember Great Osobor from Utah state? I was wondering where he was playing this year and apparently he transferred to Washington and his stats are slightly worse than last year at USU. Utah state is still playing near the top of the MW and Washington is dead last in the big 10. Dude got a decent amount of notoriety in March last year, now he wont sniff the tourney this year. Just an interesting observation
