Checking in on Some Former Zips

Went to watch Freeman and the 76ers were playing in summer league and next thing I hear is Amani Lyles for 2 on a nice spiin move.  He looks good in a sixer uniform.

Lyles with 13 points and 3 rebounds in 12 minutes today. It will always be tough for him to make the NBA roster but he could be playing his way into a G League deal.

He's probably better off playing overseas. G-League players only make ~$50K unless on a two-way. He could probably make double that in Europe.

Yes, that's the two-way contract. Each team is allowed 3 of those. The rank and file G-League players (not on two-ways) make ~$50k.

Lyles got his first start of the summer and recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds in 27 minutes. Although he did have 5 turnovers.

I saw Amani and Tavari were also in the suit that granted Evan an extra year. We, as of now, don't have any roster spots. Anyone know if either of them plan to return for an extra year of college and if so where?

It would never happen for several reasons, but could you imagine a team with Amani, Tavari, Evan, and all the transfers we brought in? The four peat would be guaranteed.

TBH in this hypothetical Amani would instantly fill our biggest question mark as we lack a 5 with his proven skill set. I do see potential in Buddy Hammer, but it's no guarantee if we can fully unlock it in 1 season.

 

It might sound weird to hear this but IMO Tahj makes Tavari a bit redundant. We really couldn't play them together. Even though Tavari might be better, I don't think there will be a big drop-off in production between the two.

 

In my honest opinion I would guess at this stage we probably couldn't afford either financially. One would think our cash was mostly spent this offseason and that was before Bud dug deeper into his pockets to bring back Evan. I would think Tavari would command $500K+ and I wouldn't be surprised if a desperate team that lost out on musical chairs for a quality big offered Lyles something in the neighborhood of $800K or more.

Never saw this on Amani. Does he have a shot at making a roster?
