Unless Kent players were directly taunting UT players, I'm with kreed. Don't give a team the opportunity to celebrate if you don't want it done.

Tod might be one of those coaches (Dabos, Clemson football coach) that excelled before the NIL era because their program could fill the roster with talent at the price of a new car. Now new cars are peanuts and they are struggling to adapt.

If you go to their board they blame all kinds of things for their lack of success. Bad luck, injuries, and saying the tournament needs moved because Kent and Akron get an unfair advantage. Meanwhile, they're significantly closer to Cleveland than schools like Buffalo, Miami, or WMU who have all won the tournament in Cleveland. They just lack any sort of accountability.

 

It's funny enough that they don't feel the same way about the MAC football championship being in Detroit giving them an unfair advantage. They will be in for a rude awakening if the MAC relocates, as it should, that game to Haslamland once the current contract ends.

I have a vague recollection of Kent winning at the JAR and going over to our fans and taunting them.  I thought it was classless then and classless now.  I saw the same thing in soccer this year by our soccer team and others.   A coach should teach his players how to win and how to lose.  I don't know what happened after the Kent Toledo game but if it was inappropriate I am glad the coach called it out.  Regardless if you win or lose, student athletes should not act like jerks after the game.

I think toledo fans have been saying this since they lost on thursday morning to the 8 seeded Kent a couple years ago. It is so funny to me, where do they really expect the tournament to be played?

What's funny is there was a ~10 year stretch that the tournament was hosted in Toledo and they punched their ticket 0 times those years. Half those years it was played in Savage Arena. 

 

I think they want the tournament to return to Toledo, but honestly what out of town fan would want to spend 3 days in that decaying city? Cleveland has a great setup. There was a Redhawks fan who said he's gone to every tournament since the 1980s and Cleveland blows the rest away. I feel the ones who complain are the ones who don't actually make the trip to fairly judge.

 

With NIU leaving and UMass joining I would also add Cleveland might be pretty close to the geographical middle for the MAC.

I hate these probablility charts ever since somebody posted on our board that we had a 96% probabiity of beating UCLA with about 4 minutes  left in the game for our first NCAA victory.  When I saw that post, I knew it was the kiss of death.  And we all know what happened in that game.

Went and looked at the play-by-play for the last 9 minutes of that game and it was brutal for Toledo and TK. When Kent cut the score down to 69-66 around the 2-minute mark, most coaches would call a TO to get a quality shot or at least the ball in a key players hands.

 

Not TK ... then Toledo turned it over, allowing Kent to tie the score.

 

NOW TK calls a TO, with a minute to play ... Rockets have the full shot-clock to get a quality possession/shot. 

 

Nope. Turnover,  shot-clock violation. (Really!!!!)

 

Kent goes on to win it.

 

No wonder TK was complaining about Kent's celebration. In the old days, when there was true media around, TK would have some real 'splaining to do.

Received an email from Angela and this offer caught my eye so figured I'd share. With tickets, 2-3 beers, and a meal you'd be spending close to $99/person anyway. I've also had club seats for Cavs game in the past and thought they were fantastic. I've already reached out to get tickets.
