clarkwgriswold Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM The Zips head to Portage County Friday night to face the 21-7 Flushes. The Flushes are coming off of a last second 83-81 win over CMU. Delrecco Gillespie continues to lead PCCC. He is third in the MAC in scoring at 18.8 ppg and leads the league in rebounding at 8.6 rpg. The Zips handled PCCC earlier in the season in the JAR, handing them a 69-52 loss on a night PCCC went 1 for 23 on three pointers. 1 Quote
Blue & Gold Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM Report Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM This could be a much different game. KSUcks won't be ice-cold from behind the arc & they'll have Whaley back, who hit the game winner last night vs. CMU. We've beaten KSUcks 6 times straight 🤞 At the JAR it looked like we were in their heads 🤞🤞 4 Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted 16 hours ago Author Report Posted 16 hours ago Need to limit the turnovers. After Tuesday night the Zips are likely to see a lot of defensive pressure. Limit the turnovers and stay close on the rebounds and the Zips should win. Quote
Westie Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Kent has played an incredible number of close games. To their credit, they have pulled through in most of them. Gonna likely see them twice coming up. I fully expect Kent to try and get under the Zips skin by being super aggressive. Show composure, rebound and make every possession count. Zips get it done but it’s gonna be a battle. 1 Quote
ZipsFan31 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago I think this has loss written all over it. But we live in their heads rent free. We will break their hearts again. Quote

We will break their hearts again. It seems quite possibly like a loss. But then you gotta remember that we're 37-2 (i think) in our last 39 MAC games if you include MAC tournament games. (This dates back to the consecutive losses to EMU and WMU going into the 2024 MAC Tournament.) So we'll probably win easily. 😅 Quote
csims0917 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Big key to the game is the Mahaffeys. I say it every time we face Kent or Miami. They are the big disrupters, and their athleticism and physicality will continue to mess Kent up like they did before. Chabi did very well the few minutes he played last time against Kent so that will help too. Lyles will need all the help he can get on the interior with Gillespie and now Whaley back as well. Plus, Griffith who had 17 rebounds last game! Just a bonkers number for a bench player even with the terrible shooting. Hope we can set the tone early like we did last game and let the shooters do their thing late to pull away. Quote
zippy5 Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Kent missed a looot of wide open 3s against us. Hopefully they just suck at shooting, but I'm betting they don't shoot anywhere near 1-23 from 3 again 1 Quote

Akron will have to play better, because that game was really close for a home game where the opponent was 1/23 from deep. Quote
