I take it Freitag isn't going to be back for this one.

Akron favored by 15.5 with O/U of 157.5

The next step of getting time in the NBA is the hardest step in Freeman's journey. He has to have more games where he both scores and rebounds in the G league to get noticed. I would like him to have 30 points and double digit rebounding in every game in the G league. Now that Zicarsky is with the Timberwolves maybe it will give Freeman more of an opportunity to score.

Any team that beats Miami in the final is going to get some attention. In the worst of all wish worlds Miami loses in the final and it's not Akron.

Article on Sac State financial analysis. Lots of imaginary numbers in there. They claim to have a group that was raising $50M as Sac-12 trying to join the PAC. Since that fizzled they may not get their money. Would be pretty easy to just change it to MAC-12. 😊

The NIU game has been moved up to 6:00 to accommodate CBS Sports. It's also senior night so many will be hustling to get there.
-
It matters less at schools like OSU where the players are really majoring in becoming professional athletes. I had classes with several college football players in the college of business that were very bright. Most of Akron's roster is getting little to no money and unlike basketball there aren't 100 leagues around the world to play in so they will need to rely on eventually getting a 9-5. As @zippy5 pointed out I don't think it's an issue because it might impact someone only once if they stay a full 5 years. I'm more pointing out that even though many blow off school because they're really only here to play football that's not the case for all.
-
Eh, it's slightly more real, especially when you have a fair number of players up and down the roster that will be here a couple years. But, as noted, it's only going to be a bit of a pain.
-
That's why it's only going to be a bit of a pain.
-
I mean that's going to happen once or twice per year. Which means maybe once over the next 5 years for Akron? Big whoop
-
I'm hoping Freeman can find a better situation next season. It doesn't seem like Minnesota has plans for him on the NBA roster.

Every conference is different. Some conferences is an eat what you kill and others split it fairly evenly. I think the MAC gives some money to teams to help with travel, but the rest is split fairly evenly. They used to have some incentives to promote regular season success and meeting certain scheduling requirements, but frankly the MAC hasn't won many additional credits so that incentive pot has dwindled.
-
Classes mattering in today's landscape is as real as the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
-
Is it distributed evenly among the conference or does the team that actually plays get a higher share?

Freeman is back down with the wolves but had probably his best game with 29 points on 7 of 9 shooting and a team leading 12 rebounds. He did foul out and the Wolves lost in Overtime.

I'm an awesome human who lives at the center of Sanity Island.

You seem nice.😇
-
Yes, it does. Every game up until the Final Four gives a credit. Each credit is worth about $2 million.

I think it's funny when people write things assuming those who will be reading it are as stupid as they are.

The only part that will be a bit of a pain is the Tuesday/Wednesday game out there, given it's midweek during classes. That's the only real issue. Otherwise, I appreciate the MAC taking a wild shot here. The MAC's traditional complacency and lack of progress has actually been replaced with taking a shot at something (even if that something came with virtually zero financial risk).
-
Doesn’t the MAC get more money for each game played? If so, I’m all for it
-
I was under the impression that he's under contract through next season.
-
I actually don't know the full contract details. When I said 5 years it was because that's what google showed when I searched. I'm not sure how much of the contract is actually guaranteed.
