  4. Akron held on to win on the basis of that early score by Fragnoli. 1-0. Not a pretty outcome in the home opener versus a lap dog opponent. We play @West Virginia, a national power this week. Yikes. 😬
  5. Luisa Fragnoli scored first for Akron on a long blast in the fifteenth minute to give the Zips the 1-0 advantage over EIU.
  6. Am I correct that the spread on this game has slipped from an opening 10 pts down to 7.5? I live in a Mountain West city ‐‐ Honolulu, and have some sense about the league. The Cowboys are in the bottom half - to bottom third of a league that is clearly top-heavy. I had Akron winning 6 games this season. To get to that summit they MUST win this one first, and if they aren't able to stay close to Wyo then even 5 wins are in doubt. I like the Zips by a TD.
  7. A great man has passed. Everyone who is reading this has been touched by Stu Parry, whether directly or indirectly.
  8. I will miss seeing Stu at home and away games. I always enjoyed talking with him about Zips Men's Soccer and hearing his thoughts on the team. Thanks to Stu for starting the team that we all love and for his and his family's continued support. Rest in Peace. 🙏 Condolences to Stu's family.

  10. Very sorry to learn of Stu Parry's passing. Tribute to Stu Parry It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Stu Parry — a man who meant so much to all of us. Stu wasn't just a great coach; he was a deeply kind and generous soul, a loving father and grandfather, and a true role model whose impact reached far beyond the soccer field. His unwavering dedication helped bring varsity soccer to the University of Akron, and his vision laid the foundation for one of the most storied programs in college soccer. The legacy he built continues to grow through the efforts of former players and coaches who carry his spirit forward. Even at 92, Stu remained a vibrant part of our community. He was always eager to meet for breakfast, send an email, or make a call - just to talk Akron soccer. He loved hearing about the incredible young men in our program and was genuinely excited about what each new season could bring. Through the highs and lows, Stu was a constant source of encouragement and support. His love for the game and for this program never wavered. He was a Zip in every sense of the word. To honor Stu's memory, our team will wear a patch on our home jerseys that simply says "Stu." It's a small gesture to recognize a man whose influence was anything but small. We now carry the torch - for Stu and for Akron Soccer - and we will continue to share our passion and pride for one of the premier college soccer programs in the country. . Sincerely, Jared Embick Head Men's Soccer Coach University of Akron
  11. Paul Lewis III and DJ Irons played for the Wroclaw Panthers of the European League. Lost their playoff game tonight.

  13. Signed 2010 Akron NCAA tournament championship ball.
  14. Time for the depth to step up. We are Akron, Let’s go!!!
  15. Jack Sullivan was also among the starters. The Zips may have not been as good due to the dirty, physical play by Detroit Mercy. Unfortunately, a number of our players were injured as a result. The ref needed to have a better handle on it. I'm not a fan of cards in exhibition games, but some red cards were warranted but not given. Yellows were insufficient.
  16. When has Akron finished non-conference play with only 1 loss? Even the year we were momentarily ranked we lost 4 games in OOC play. I don't see how we would only lose 1 OOC game, especially considering that we have 4 new starters and a very revamped bench unit. It's going to likely take most of OOC play before we start firing on all cylinders.
  17. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45968911/2025-preseason-college-football-bottom-10 We didn’t land in the Bottom 10 going into Week 1 (or is it still Week 0?), but we did end up on the “Waiting List.” Two of our opponents, though, weren’t as lucky.
  18. Last night was a 2-1 win for the Zips. A first half goal (maybe 30 or 35 minutes in, I don't remember) was scored off a free kick. Not sure who was credited with the goal, it was just kinda knocked in from a scrum on the back post. The 2nd goal was fairly early in the 2nd half scored by Ferguson, a header from a nice cross. Detroit got a penalty with about 10 minutes left. Kaminski was in goal for the Zips, I heard rumors that Budler has a minor injury. Bahur and Alem started for Akron (in for Filsinger and Borneo, I think?), with the rest of the Starting XI the same as last match, I believe. In my opinion, the Zips were not as good as the match against St Bonaventure, but it could be fatigue after 3 matches in very hot weather.
  19. At large conversation or back to back home losses to start the season: the 25-26 campaign rests on a knife's edge.
  20. I agree we need to win. But if you think about it. I think we will be favored in every game but the Purdue game. Head to conference with 1 loss and you will be on the bubble with a 16-2 conference record. That would be 28-3 going into the MAC tournament.
  21. I thought like having a little fun, starting a thread where people can post random, kinda cool UAkron/AkronZips related memorabilia Jason Taylor and the old A-style mini helm. Charlie Frye with the A-Roo style helm. Random metal stuff I've found over the years that were Zips related, or from being a season ticket holder. Feel free to post cool Akron Zips Memorabilia that you have. The more unique the better! And if anyone knows the stories of particular stuff, it's even cooler to hear!
  22. I'm not standing on a moral high horse. Morality has never been my strong suit. "Being right is the boobie prize." A contractor once told me this. Fighting and winning this case in 2027 would get us nothing and be little more than a distraction. I really don't give a crap what guys are Tweeting. In fact, the transfer portal has given me the go-ahead to not give a crap about them since their loyalty is about an inch deep. I'd rather they put their efforts towards getting ready for the season. After all, they are professionals now. I think winning against Wyoming would give this team more of a jolt in 2025 than winning a lawsuit against the NCAA in 2027.
  23. My guess/hope is that IF we get to 6-6, either Akron or the NCAA will make a move to get/provide relief.
  24. UMass in conference this year?
  25. If this year’s team can’t at least get to six wins with a schedule that features two three-win G5 teams from last season, an FCS opponent, and five MAC programs breaking in new head coaches, then some changes need to be made.
  26. I never stated that 6-6 was impossible, just that it was very unlikely to achieve. Nothing I've seen from Moorhead thus far gives me confidence that he can right this ship given the financial limitations he faces. I'll let the season play out to see the final record, but I would be absolutely stunned if we sniff 6 wins.
