This will be Akron's fifth appearance in the College Cup in the past ten years. UNC has four appearances. Nobody else has more than three.6 points

I would prefer a new football coach but the salary can't be cut if we are to get a good one. I realize you, like all of us, want to keep Jared for a long while. I believe we will. He could have gone to Ohio State earlier this year but he loves Akron. He is loyal and only asks for a fair salary and the autonomy to run a top 5 program. Williams, to his credit, has given him that and Jared likes working for LW.3 points

Three out of four years to the College Cup. I'd have given that a zero chance after Porter left. Hats off to Embick and the entire team. Maryland and Indiana in one semifinal and the Zips get the winner of Michigan State-JMU tomorrow. I like the chances for a second star!!3 points

Buffalo's loss last night is the only satisfaction I will take from this season2 points

Akron has a gem with this soccer program. The school, community, and administration needs to fully support the program due to its elite status and keep it there. Invest in soccer.2 points

Unbelievable. Someone tell Michigan this is how you do a revenge tour. The College Cup should be held in Santa Barbara every year. The UCSB students were great to the Zips last time. Get those tortillas flying. ;-) Thank God it didn't come down to PK's.2 points

That 2nd goal almost cost me $150. At a fundraiser, and they scored during an auction. I threw my hands up. Would have been well worth it.2 points

Point taken. I can see it either way. I trust that the welfare of the students was paramount in making that decision. So much in education, in our general society, can now be done remotely. I have worked from home more times than I can count. Is added travel good for the team? Is there value in being home for 72 hours before departing again? I don't know what the guidelines are on that.1 point

Cool tidbit for tonight: with French and company in South Carolina, the game will be called on the radio by Jim Rosenhaus. If anybody sees him around the JAR, let's get his opinion on the Gomes trade and other Indians trade rumors.1 point

Just for purposes of discussion,if the AD goes to Bowden and says Milwee has to go if you want to stay(not in so many words mind you) what happens? I honestly don't think thats the way MOST AD's or head coaches would want to operate. But who knows? And,what if Bowden says 'I'll make the change as long as I can pick the guy I want'? Pure speculation.1 point

Keep me up on the game guys. I'm caught up observing Daily Mass on the Eternal Word Televison Network on Spectrum 385 where Zips Facebook post said game would be on. (I did find it on WatchESPN)1 point

Some on the other side who had brought their own chairs and some standing. Bleachers were not available. Some also standing along the south bleachers (no bleachers available...just the upper chairbacks shown) and a few from the university in the lower bowl which was closed off. With the men's and women's basketball games today, I'm sure they needed to limit the areas that would need to be prepped.1 point

Were there people on both sides of the JAR? I see they ran a video, but it only showed the blue seats side at the end of the match. They need to hype this more.1 point

You mention the skill of Marco Micaletto in your comment. Mr. Micaletto and so many others are what impress me so much about the growth of this team and the skill of the coaching staff and the work ethic of many of these young men. It is so hard to play soccer in one system for 3 years and then come to Akron for the senior year. It was obvious that both Marco Micaletto and Abdi Mohamed had some growing pains in the adjustment. Abdi also had to deal with a position change. Both Abdi and Marco Micaletto are both playing some fantastic soccer right now and have made enormous changes to their games to help the team win. Tremendous credit to their unselfishness, hard work and also to the coaches for finding the right fit for them. Colin Biros has become an outstanding contributor to the team over the last half of the season. Colin is not the biggest kid on the field but his work ethic is unrivaled. Great credit goes to Colin for his development over the year. Daniel Strachan was a huge part of last year's final four team. It has been a learning process for the coaching staff and Daniel to find the best fit for Daniel with this group of young men. I believe that Daniel has started 2 of the last 3 games in place of Pol. Credit to the coaching staff for knowing the teams and the games when Daniel's talents would be most effective. Daniel also deserves a lot of praise for dealing with not being a starter for every game like he was in 17 and contributing greatly when he has been given the chance to start in huge games. Finally, Ezana Kahsay. Ezana;s give and go with Marcel for the 2nd goal was incredible soccer and was beautiful. Can any of us have envisioned 2-3 years ago that Ezana would make a beautiful, instinctive soccer play that would lead to a magnificent goal in a win over Stanford? Ezana has grown so much over his 5 years with Akron. He is really contributing and he has matured greatly. I am only able to make it to 2-3 home games a year. Many people that sit around me in section 203 have bashed Ezana unmercifully over the last several years. I am very proud of this young man from Eritrea and how he has grown to be a huge contributor. This team would not be going to the college cup without the growth and development during the year of Marco Micaletto, Abdi, Ezana, Colin , Daniel and so many others. Jared Embick and his coaching staff deserve great praise for believing in each young man and finding their best attributes on the soccer field. Sermon over.....Extremely proud of these young men and their coaches.1 point

With all the pig skin championship games this weekend, that third goal should still be in the top 10 highlights! ESPN make room for it.1 point

New plan. We fire Bowden, and reallocate his salary (and maybe more) to Embick to keep him for 10+ years. Dynasty.1 point

So proud of this team. They hung together and got the train rolling after the WVU loss. The coaching staff was fantastic proving coaching does matter and excuses are not an option. I wish someone would describe what the watch party was like and how attendance was. I'll bet ME87 and VA Zip are making plans for Santa Barbara. I really enjoyed watching the game with you two and the Nanchoffs at Wake. More so I enjoyed closing the bar at Wake with the coaches and former players. Hope to do it after wins in Santa Barbara. So proud!1 point

Travis Clark is once again doing his predictions He is predicting that there will be 3 big ten teams in the college cup there will definitely be one unseeded team (the winner of James Madison vs. Michigan State).... I am hoping that there are 2 https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/mens-division-i-quarterfinal-preview_aid455591 point

Wish I could go up to Stanford on Friday, but that's a minimum 5-hour drive and work is pressing … cmon Zips, make it back to Santa Barbara! I hope they're practicing their PKs …1 point

I don't have any problem with this at all. It's up to us to stop them from scoring. If we can't, we suffer the consequences.1 point
