My thoughts- Heath should be fired tonight. He should find his own way back to Ypsalanti. The effort his team put forth tonight was criminal. The preparation his staff put forth tonight was criminal. I can’t recall in my 38 years as a Zips fan, even the worst Coleman Crawford coached team quit trying. So early. Bates is worthless. He’s the poster child for the Stars Don’t Matter movement. His effort was embarrassing. His shot selection was abhorrent. His accolades are farcical. Give me Farrakhan any day of the week. I’d dance a jig if he was our next MAC transfer to follow Walton and Hankerson. EMU’s other 12 players…I hope they have great grades because they have no hope of a basketball career. Concord put up a better fight. California Baptist women’s team would put up a better fight against the UConn women. If there was one EMU basketball fan left, they have to have quit on their alma mater tonight. Great effort by the Zips tonight. Teams of lesser caliber would have got caught up in EMU’s selfish play and started getting “their” numbers when then lead got appreciable. Instead, the Zips played as a team and poured it on until the final buzzer. They didn’t play down to the level of the opponent.6 points

Evan Wilson has doubled Emoni's point total for the night. If Evan Wilson gets into a game against a MAC opponent, that team should be immediately relegated to the Horizon League.5 points

Groce was ALL ABOUT Tribble on the post-game show. Clearly, the coach's favorite. Tribble and Hankerson. From ABJ: Tribble reaching double figures was of particular note considering his defensive responsibilities. At different points this season, he's learned and then played every position except center, and he's often been tasked with guarding the opponent's best scorer. "The dude is just a stud in terms of intelligence," Groce said. "If you needed him to play center he could do it, probably. … He's just so versatile both defensively and offensively, and is willing to sacrifice for the team. I have great appreciation for Greg."3 points

Was in the student section. Bate’s brother came to the section to started a scene because of the “Jail” chants coming from the from of the crowd. His brother flipped a pizza and was escorted back to his seat. Got very heated for a bit there until the employees told the students to stop that chant. Electric night but almost got scary3 points

That was stunning. Amani Lyles could have had 20 points if he hadn’t missed a few open ones. He fouled out in like 20 minutes! Heath sucks. They play like an NBA team with low major talent. Bates may fill it up against us in a month, but he didn’t want to play tonight. Nobody did for them. Worst effort I’ve seen from a D1 team at the JAR in a loooong time. I’m gonna head home and crack a beer, cheers to a rare easy one. Go Zips!3 points

Shout out to EMUSteve, a really good guy who I used to converse with 20 yrs ago on the MAC email list. HurEagles haven't progressed much since then! Oh, they DID win a bowl game!2 points

Lyles’ stat line: 9 minutes played/10 points/5 fouls Beyond impressive to foul out in 9 minutes, yet still hit double digits in scoring.🤘2 points

EMU should have hired Charles Thomas as their coach instead of washed up Stan Heath.2 points

And I never get tired of them using the phrase defending MAC champion Akron Zips. 😊2 points

Man this is a terrible game on ESPNU before the Zips. Yale is really fouling down 10 with 20 seconds left? Now Cornell calls a timeout with 14 seconds left? Just end the pain and let us watch our team.2 points

Mount Pleasant awaits the Zips this Tuesday as they head north to face the 6-10 Central Michigan Chippewas. The Chippewas are 1-2 in the MAC and face Buffalo tonight. The Chippewas Beat Miami yet somehow lost to EMU and NIU. CMU Is led by Second Team All-MAC 6'0" sophomore guard Kevin Miller at 18.5 ppg. Miller is an alum of Victory Rock Prep. 6'6" senior guard Brian Taylor scores 14.4 ppg while hauling down 6.6 rpg to lead the Chipps in rebounding. 6'3" junior guard Jesse Zerzuela averages 14.7 ppg. They were predicted to finish 10th in the MAC this season.1 point

They have a message board? How excited do you think they were when they hit double-digit site views for the first time ever when Bates committed?1 point

Disregard the comment on the tweet. But here is one of the episodes Bates had last night. His dad came down to the bench multiple times. I’d like to see the young man step away from this mess and go play overseas or just work with a trainer for a bit. This is hurting him big time.1 point

I don't recall an Akron MAC game that was truly over with 16 minutes left in the 2nd half. absolutely bizarre. I was like geez...there are 12 minutes left of this train wreck.1 point

Never quite seen something like that. Being at the game, it was pretty insane how in Emoni Bate's head our students were. His family was motioning guns, middle fingers, etc. at them all game. His brother even walked over to confront some students about it at half time. I have never seen a fall from grace like this from a player. Seeing how his family acted, it is pretty clear the apple does not fall far from the tree.1 point

I feel EMU is just a bad experiment where you take one of the top 5 players in the conference and surround him with the absolute worst supporting cast. It turns out it takes more than just 1 player, even at the collegiate level, to win basketball games1 point

Awesome. Coach Jackson is fighting for an extension, and I’m really pulling for her. She’s getting a lot out of this group, and a win tomorrow would be huge. Hopefully Zip Nation shows up a bit, they’ve earned it.1 point
