Whenever we believe we are having problems, lows in our lives, these kind of things make us realize sometimes how lucky and blessed we truly are.

At this point I'd be happy for Toledo to be top and the Zips to get a 2 or 3. Think it's the optimal bracket set up. I'm in the Phillipines right now so it's Wednesday morning. Happy ESPN+ said I wasn't allowed to watch the game in this area. 😊

0 for 15 from behind the arc to start the game isn't going to cut it no matter who you play. And we need more balanced scoring.

I also just don't think we could put a lineup that matches up well with them. Toledo actually has two competent offensive bigs so asking one of our 6'2 guards to guard one of them is asking a lot. They also got 3 point range, which forces Freeman away from the basket. Frankly, I want Toledo on the other side of the bracket. I like our chances against Kent or Ball State. We just don't match up against Toledo well. Hopefully someone can upset them so we can avoid them.

Honestly this is probably the second worst game I've seen an Akron team play. NCAAT game against VCU being the worst

Last year, all home games were streamed on GoZips.com but not ESPN+. They were pretty decent broadcasts though. I assume it would be similar this year. My understanding is it costs more to produce ESPN+ broadcasts because they have higher requirements.

I'm hoping everything is OK and that, despite 33's hope, nothing is on fire.

When we are down by 30 Hunter finally finds his stroke. I just wonder if this guy just tenses up early in the game and it throws off his shot. When we were up by 30 against Buffalo he hit a couple of three balls. I know it sounds crazy but it makes me wonder especially when I hear he lights it up in practice.

Toledo must put up banners for 2nd and 3rd place finishes, seeing all of those banners in their rafters.

Toledo is deeper, more talented and plays harder than the Zips. They’re definitely the class of the MAC this season.

It bears to reason that if theire smalls can take advantage of our bigs in their offense that our bigs should be able to take advantage of their smalls when the Zips are on offense. Frustrating.

And no one is.

Toledo both games have made both X and Freeman work for their points. They're daring anyone else to beat them.

Hunter gets an offensive rebound under the basket. Instead of taking it up strong he dribbles away from the basket and loses the ball. That is just bad basketball. Take the ball up strong!!!!

Yeah Dawson played a big role in breaking up their flow last year in the tournament.

Sammy and Hank bricked every one of their few open looks. Ain’t our night. Sucks, really sucks. 10 years without a win there.

Too athletic for Sammy, too much size for our 4 guard lineup. They just seem like a bad matchup for us. This is really a game that could use a Dawson or Ali for.

Josh White single handed took us out of that game. He made at least 5 calls that resulted in momentum swings in UT's favor.

New offer out to JUCO DT Bryce Dunnuck. A little surprising seeing as we already have 7 DTs on the roster. I wonder if the staff expects a current DT to hit the portal or if we see more of a 3-4 alignment this year? Or maybe I’m reading too much into it and Wartman just wants to land one of the guys he targeted.

It's going to be interesting to see what comes out of this investigation. If Oats knew about this interaction and never disciplined Darius, Oats may see his newly signed contract go poof.

If we could land Matt, I also highly recommend going after any OL named Burger. I can almost hear the announcer as a Zip runs a sweep behind the pulling Burger with Fries.

Rivals lists their picks on best players left in portal: QB - Not a need. RB - Not a need. WR - What fanbase wouldn’t want Caleb Ducking? Not only is he a productive receiver, but he does the duck waddle when he scores. OL - Even though we would lean towards taking an immediate starter, I’d like for us to land Matt Fries. I covered his recruitment out of HS and I’m surprised he has not been scooped up yet. DT - Not a need.

If Coach Jackson was one of the most highly touted names in her sport, chose to take a pay cut to come to resurrect Akron, had a promising first season, and then got calls from LSU and South Carolina to come work they’re with less responsibility and more pay, our administration would be stupid to not try to sweeten the pot and extend her. That’s exactly what happened with football. If we’re going to compare what Moorhead is doing with football to the situation here, then I have no more left to say and we will get nowhere. That is insanity at its finest.

Kest took over one of the worst programs in the country at a time where it was essentially impossible to rebuild a program overnight. There is no comparison to what she accomplished vs. what coach Jackson has accomplished. I guess the thing I’m hung up on is it being the end of the world by cleaning house and starting from scratch. In these 5 years, we’ve seen this program play in 2 MAC tournament games in Cleveland with 2 losses as the 8 seed at home. Then a last place (or close) finish in the COVID year that was also the COVID year for everyone else. Last year a clear outlier, and even then they didn’t even sniff a title. Should we just accept being an average at best MAC program? That’s not why I buy tickets and donate.

Facts! Yay! If true, that is a shame. I was hoping she could turn it around, but I don’t see it coming. The way they’ve played since the end of the 3rd quarter against BG tells the story. The lack of an extension last year was likely due to the fact that the admin wanted to see if the program could sustain success without the best player in the league. And it hasn’t. I personally have always been on the side of thinking coach deserves at least another year, but I’m also aware we aren’t running a charity around here. WBB exists to be a winner. That doesn’t mean handing out pity extensions and congratulations for being “better than the worst” in program history. It be that way sometimes.

Bad start to the second half. This is not pretty to watch.
