Thanks a million to @Blue & Gold, @LZIp and @catdaddyp for their efforts to keep everyone updated today! 🙏6 points

Like him or not and whether it has been effective or not, he's made a hell of a lot more of an effort to help his community that others in his position. My great nephew is currently attending UA on a Lebron scholarship and doing well. It's an opportunity he otherwise may not have had.6 points

The Gardner-Webb teams are known as the "Runnin' Bulldogs." That's quite an image. I've never seen a bulldog run. My son went to a university and lived in a dorm where the team mascot, a bulldog. In getting hyped up for the big game against their rival, they trained the bulldog to attack and tear up a box with the rival's emblem on it. In front of the student body they unleashed the bulldog to tear up the box, he frantically approached the box and....started humping it. I guess "Runnin' Bulldogs" is better than "Humpin' Bulldogs."3 points

The only thing that matters out of this recruiting class for me is Roggow. If he can bring stability to the QB position for the program, then anyone else in this recruiting class is just an extra bonus to me. Until Moorhead and company figure out the QB going forward, this program will continue to be stuck in quicksand.3 points

Toledo tweeted congratulations to Kowalchoke for 400 wins. I responded with "congratulations on all those November through February wins!"2 points

I will never, ever criticize a person or group trying to improve their community. Certainly, the I Promise can improve its effectiveness. The same can be said for the public school system as a whole. The LeBron James Family Foundation has worked to do that and invested heavily in doing so, but anyone who's ever worked with at-risk students knows it's not typically a quick-turnaround. Most students entering the school were two or three grade levels behind their peers. Most live in poverty. Many have experienced trauma. And his foundation is working to break the generational cycle those communities experience. "But I heard he doesn't tip well!" If you're always looking for the negative in things, you're likely to find it. For anyone interested, here's a good article on what the school offers and what's planned in the future. It's really cool to see what they're trying to do. https://andscape.com/features/lebron-james-promise-to-akron-gets-more-ambitious/ Now, back to the KD thread. 😉2 points

I have been very pleased with UA as the parent of a freshman. Eveyone in every department has been pleasant and helpful. My son chose UA over Miami, Kent, BGSU, and Ohio State. As a parent during the admission and enrollment process, I just felt from the beginning that UA cared about my son and his education. I can't help but feel that a lot of this comes from the overall vision of President Miller making its way through campus and UA culture.2 points

The BG coach was a South Carolina assistant. I'm sure that's why BG was able to schedule them.2 points

And how are they going to enforce these tickets? They aren't law enforcement. I have a lot pass, but I'm still offended by this. Years ago when I lived in Chicago I received a ticket for parking in a "non-metered spot." We could contest by mail. I sent pics of where I parked and showed them it was perfectly legal and then added thus in un-American, ticketing me for being smart.1 point

If they had the scholarships to give, yes. Schools like Toledo and Miami do not. Akron, Kent, and Western will likely have the most portal activity this year. JoeMo has also said we will only take 12-15 HS players on any given year, so we’ll always be active portalers (probably not a word) as long as this staff is in place.1 point

Angela is great at what she does. She is a UA College of Business graduate. Her dad is an Akron business/marketing icon. She is making her mark with the Cavs and RMFH. Thanks for helping Angela's bank account!1 point

Have to assume we'll have a better shot at landing a QB -or two- during the 2nd signing period as players will be more desperate to land somewhere... anywhere... if things haven't worked out as they had hoped by then. Much like @Zipmeister searching for a girl during last call.1 point

If they’re anything like there football team they will find ways to win conference games somehow1 point

Just looking at the standings and schedule. It is crazy how far Buffalo has fallen. 1-9 on the season. They haven’t beaten a D-1 team yet. And have lost every game in the past month by double digits. The Evan Wilson 3 pointer at RMFH just crumbled the program1 point

Anyone know anything about Laurence Seymore? He committed to us back in September. Think i might have read he was on campus. Figured we still would've announced him?1 point

https://youtu.be/VFJlsOx016I?si=OIdtNHbxV0apVx_B KD talks about Dru at the beginning of this post game from November. It’s cut off but he mentions him as the coach in waiting. At 5:40 a reporter asks about that. Certainly sounds like Dru is next in line at Duquesne.1 point

Well, I've got to run & probably won't be back online until this evening. I'm bolding the guys who've signed in the initial post in this thread. I'll continue to update it later tonight. Go Zips!1 point

I was curious about the Merrimack OL. Nick is 6'6" 310 lbs. Cole is 6'4" 310 lbs (lists himself as 6'6" 315 lbs on his Twitter). Buffalo, PCCC, and UMASS are the other DI FBS schools that have offered Nick according to his Twitter. Cole also holds offers from UMASS and Buffalo. Merrimack was 5-6 on the season.1 point

This will be your one and only warning (per today's email)! Thank you for your ongoing support of Akron Athletics and our Zips student-athletes. Below are some friendly reminders regarding parking at athletics events. The University of Akron and Akron Athletics have been working with UAkron Park, a third-party vendor, as they have taken over all parking for the University and special events. Throughout the fall semester, UAkron Park has been issuing warnings to fans that parked in non-event spaces. Be advised, UAkron Park is issuing tickets to fans that do not park in designated lots. Please be sure to park in your designated lot and have your parking pass visible. Do not park in lots with signage indicating "no event parking." Fans that do not have parking passes should park in Lot 1 and pay the designated fees. That's one hell of a thank you.0 points

Good read, and this stuff is great in theory. We'll see if the execution is there. Lots wrong in that community and I don't have a whole lot of faith in LeBum to be genuine with selfless intentions.0 points
