Groce is right that we are going to get everyone’s best effort or Buffalo doesn’t like hearing that Groce killed them. Either way they played hard, but Akron answered the challenge like champs. Heal up fast Nate!!3 points

I was playing along with the whole BG is legit theme. I guess I missed the mark.2 points

OU blows. Western hasn't played a single team worth a damn and has some really bad losses. They've also played a garbage MAC very closely in their victories.2 points

Either you or Coach Groce is having a senior moment. Groce said after the game that an undefeated Bronco team is galloping into the JAR on Tuesday.2 points

Thanks @Blue & Gold. I believe that this is in error ... "...That’s the clause Henry and Clapier used as both are on track to graduate in December, while Shokalook is out of eligibility." My understanding is Jason has chosen to forgo his last year of NCAA eligibility to go professional now. Happy for Jason, Malik, and Dyson.2 points

I enjoy this very much. Also they just dropped to 0-3 in A10. Really hate to see it.2 points

If we want to specifically get more people in the jar, but maybe not care about the game, today is a great example. At least 30 kids doing a cheer at halftime, probably 70 parents having to buy tickets to watch. And then another dance group right after. That’s probably 150 fans who normally wouldn’t be here. Make the game fun for those people and maybe they’ll come back when not performing2 points

The 6-9 Broncos of Western Michigan come to the JAR Tuesday night to face the Zips. They are undefeated in the MAC with wins over Miami, NIU and Buffalo going into today's game against Ohio. Temps could be in single digits for the walk in and out of the JAR. 6'4" sophomore guard Seth Hubbard leads scoring a 16.5 ppg. 7'0" sophomore center Javonte Brown cred 15.5 while adding 5-5 rpg, but hasn't played since December 16th. 6'9" junior forward Owen Obsinger leads rebounding at 6.3 rpg.1 point

Ohio falls to 1-3 in MAC play as they lose 81-79 to Western. Let the meltdown on Kitten Attack begin....1 point

Back in chilly Ohio for a family function and Hubby and I went to the Zips game last night vs. Buffalo, and I was pleasantly surprised and excited by the size of crown, after reading some of the posts leading into this weekend. Still wasn't like the "old days", but nice crown, engaged, and the game was great. Still a sorely lacking student contingent. We were talking about it with our seat-neighbors and we all agreed that waaay back, the student population was not only a larger number enrolled, but also a huge number of students were "commuter" students, not living on campus or really that many out-of-towners. So it was always great to get out of the apartment, Mom and Dad's house, grab a local beer before and after the game, then drive home. Students grew up on the Zips, not moved to campus from other regions and had to form a loyalty quickly. Abd there was a heck of a lot of night school students (us included) that used to stop by and catch whatever part of the game was left. Just a few pbservations....1 point

Amen. Out of town+ screaming grandkids+ limited intellect= clarkie confusion. I've now done that twice (2/17, sounds like Buffalo's 3 point rate), both times in NYC!1 point

My guess is Prather is likely a transfer considering his lack of playing time. But Tavari and Lyles should be back.1 point

Freeman is now at 1,483 points and 1,162 rebounds. He needs 9 points to pass Travis and move into 8th all-time for points. He needs 10 rebounds to pass Bill Turner and move to 4th all-time. Special player!1 point

No chance. He and Flo Akron have been sitting at home together since the early 80’s. They’re inseparable.😀1 point

It was a solid win. Always happy to beat Buffalo. Groce always finds a way to complain about his team (never can be perfect right?) but it did feel like the team was on autopilot tonight. Just wasn’t as sharp as they are for better opponents. Can’t complain about a 17 point win against a MAC opponent who’s played better the last few games1 point

I've been closely following Zips basketball since the last year of the Coleman Crawford era and I've got a lot of favorite players (Jeremiah Wood, Jimmal Ball, Romeo Travis, Daric Tarver, Jamie Bosley, Dru Joyce, LCJIII, X 1&2, Big Dog, Tree, Zeke Marshall, and I'm sure I'm missing a few) but I've got to admit I guess Enrique's the best Zip I've ever had the privilege of watching.1 point

The teams in bold that you mentioned are pretty much the majority of those "second most ACC wins". Add in some down FSU teams, and that accolade isn't very impressive. The ACC is not a good football conference, and Wake Forest is consistently 7-6, 8-4 at best in recent seasons (11-3 or something like that was their best record a year or 2 ago, which was indeed impressive). Teetering around .500 or slightly above .500 does very little for the ACC. You mentioned the six national championships in non-revenue sports. I specifically referenced their impact on the ACC, or lack thereof, when it comes to revenue sports. I would hope a private school that mooches $40M per year in conference media revenue would be able to produce strong country club/Olympic sports. Imagine what Akron or many G5 programs could do with the $40M that the ACC schools get thanks to Clemson, Florida State, and UNC/Duke basketball. I stand by my statement: Wake Forest does nothing for the ACC when it comes to revenue sports.1 point

What a move by Ali Ali. I don't remember him having the fake spin move during his first stint at Akron. He's done it a couple times this year and it is a thing of beauty.1 point

Nate hurt his hand, came out of the game & hasn't come off the bench since. Tavari took his minutes... in an unremarkable fashion.1 point

I’m looking at the retired numbers. Mike Harkins #22 played in 1951, then didn’t play for 3 years, and finished his career playing in 54-56. I would love to know how that worked1 point

Here's an idea, if you are going to market student section tickets to the general public don't allow those students to stand the whole game and block the view. I knew it was a possibility with school starting next week, but I watched the other games during the break and no one was standing. We've moved to other seats easily as a number of others have, but just an example of lack of coordination. 🤨1 point

Completely agree, but riddle me this. In 2022, the average MAC attendance was 2,562 and the Mountain West was 6,203. If I am not mistaken, that average would max out the JAR regularly. What are they doing differently in this modern age? http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_basketball_RB/2023/Attend.pdf1 point

My idea for marketing a game. Shake the Jar Team with Dairy Queen, McDonalds or Swensons and offer a free Milkshake if Freeman gets a double double. Sell discounted tickets to the game.1 point
