We have NO CHANCE to upset the #1 team in the nation. 😉 No. 1 Houston leapfrogs Purdue in AP Top 25 poll.3 points

Purdue’s system has a weakness and it’s athleticism. When they lost to a 16 seed with Zach Edey I believe FDU’s Center was 6’7. I think you beat them with athletic pressure and hope you shoot better than them. still a long shot to win. But I like this match up more than Arizona last year.3 points

Other thing I'd like to try with the MACtion...plaster ads everywhere and cut back the TV timeouts. See if we can't find a happy medium. Attendance on the weekdays should also be a bit better if you knew going in the 7 PM kickoff wasn't going to get you to your car by 112 points

I made a comment before, I think a good compromise is for the MAC to have 3 midweek games per week. The rest being on Saturday. That would make it so that each team would only have to play midweek twice (once at home and once on the road). That would allow midweek TV spots to be filled and will give fans 1 more Saturday game to attend.2 points

I think it’s really going to be interesting at the end of the season when Joe meets with the AD. I really believe that Joe is going to have a list of changes that need to be made to this program or he will walk away. This late season success will only empower him more. Throughout the year he has been dropping little nuggets about his dissatisfaction with the school’s commitment (financially and structurally) to the program. I think he feels that he is trying to build a program with one hand tied behind his back. We will see.2 points

In the 2nd half Mass reminded me of past Akron teams that were totally outmatched at every position and almost every opposing play was a positive one and we would shoot ourselves in the foot when we did make a good play with a stupid penalty. I give the Mass. coach credit. They finally get a stop in the 2nd half and their defensive back gets a penalty for taunting and Akron keeps the ball. The coach sent the player to the locker room, do not stop at the bench, do not keep your uniform on, just head to the showers. How many times did we see stupid personal fouls from Akron players when the team was winless and getting killed. Taunting when you are 0 and 8 and down by 21 points. Hit the showers.2 points

You asked for it, so here's an early Purdue thread. The Zips head to West Lafayette this Sunday to face the Boilermakers. The Boilermakers are one of the season favorites in the Big Ten and currently at the top of most polls. They are guard led by senior guards Fletcher Loyer (22.5 ppg) and Brendan Smith (13 ppg and 10 apg) through their two wins so far over Evansville and Oakland. They face Alabama Thursday. Here are some season previews for the Boilermakers: https://www.btpowerhouse.com/purdue/27903/2025-26-purdue-boilermakers-basketball-season-preview https://www.hammerandrails.com/mens-basketball/56394/purdue-basketball-season-predictions-staff-roundtable https://bustingbrackets.com/purdue-2025-26-season-preview-for-the-boilermakers-basketball https://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/24680 I caution you all, DO NOT OVERLOOK PENN STATE- SHENAGO!1 point

I think the Zips will have a problem with Oscar Cluff, the 6'11" Aussie transfer from South Dakota State. He was one of only two players in the country to average at least 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting at least 59.0 percent from the field a year ago. The Zips depth and speed can be effective on the perimeter but it will be tough to handle Cluff. They also have a 7'4" sophomore that plays some.1 point

Yes, simply due to the fact that their campus is less than fifteen miles away, and at least some of their families, friends, and fans will make the short jaunt over.1 point

Given the MAC has very well shown that "even though Ohio State and Michigan play on Saturday, we draw tons better crowds on Saturdays" as a league...getting another Saturday would be a good enough compromise. The institutional problems with Akron are deeper than just "oh the Tuesday games keep people from the stadium in September," but that's a step they need to take. I do think legitimately, tomorrow's game against Can't will have more people than the UMass game did. Maybe not a lot more, but more.1 point

I would expect to see us play more zone and send hard double teams to force Purdue bigs to pick up their dribble. We'll then have to rotate as best as we can on the perimeter. The reality is they will end up with some wide open looks, but we need to pray they have an off shooting night. That's kind of our only hope. Edit: I don't have much hope for a win, but if we can stay competitive for a full 40 minutes, I'll mark it down as a positive performance.1 point

ESPN+ has to show something to what are mostly degenerate gamblers,so games on Saturday shouldn't be a problem. This is my idea for a weeknight game. The Ivy League is terrible and somehow gets a nationally televised Friday night game. I think MAC basketball on Friday nights is great when two top level teams play. The NFL flexing a game to prime time is great for ratings. I would propose flexing the best MAC match up to Friday evening for five weeks. Only once can a school lose a Saturday home game and will only be required to play on Friday twice in a season.1 point

And every single fan base in the country is telling their school/conference that they want Saturday games, too. The reality is there is only so much room for football on a Saturday and it's largely reserved for the P4s and top G5 conference(s). Unless the MAC decides to get creative and move their TV deal to a more unique platform (Roku, AppleTV, regular YouTube, etc.), it's worth conserving the energy instead of beating a dead horse. The bigger issue is too many MAC programs sucking rather than when the games are played.1 point

This is what the MAC schools trying to get any local interest really have to harp on with this next TV deal. OK, sure they'll lose a few bucks from ESPN by getting rid of the Tuesday games...but even a Saturday at 30 degrees with snow flurries would have an OK crowd.1 point

For those without ESPN now thanks to Mickey Mouse's greed, FuboTV has a 5 day free trial. You'll need the Elite package for ESPNU, and you can cancel after the game without being charged. However, unlike many free trials, cancelling right after signing up will terminate the trial immediately so make sure you set a reminder for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.1 point

This post nails it. Purdue has and always will lack athleticism should they continue to clog the lane with unathletic giants. Barre will be used to eat fouls I presume, and I think we'll see a lot of Barre vs PSUS to get him more acclimated to what we'll need from him vs Purdue. The same can be said for Brisco as well. Purdue will probably attack inside often, so we'll be rotating the front court shifts often to keep fresh legs and limited foul trouble. Amani and Evan need to be strong and confident. Dribble drives will be our best friend whether it leads to a kick out 3 or attacking the basket. Getting their giants in foul trouble would be nice. This is a March-type game and guards win in March. Ultimately that's what will dictate our success. Do our guards protect the ball, knock down ships, and facilitate well? Lastly - Big Stank is our not-so-secret weapon. He's a matchup nightmare and showed a lot if ability to get to the hoop and make the right decision vs Princeton. Need him to be big. I cannot wait for this one. We are playing with house money with the start we've had so far to the season.1 point

We were!!! The refs fouled out Freeman on a fathom offensive screen call with about 3 minutes left. There were several questionable fouls on him that day. Protecting the blue bloods of the NCAA1 point

From BigSoccer.com (post by "RusskyHoya")... 😁 https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/big-east-2025.2136176/page-4 Akron 1 @ Creighton 0: We can consider this to be the true baptism - or, in keeping with the conference's Catholic tint, the final ordination - of the Zips as a member of the Big East. An edgy, chippy, tense affair decided by a goal 'in the paint' put away following a deflection off of a defender. A gritty win on the road, capped off by some Grade A taunting of the home team and crowd after knocking the Bluejays from their Division Champ perch coming in and ending their season. Now that's Big East attitude!!!1 point

I would also like to see us go to a bowl. We have had such a long streak of losing that winning 6 games and going to a bowl is indicative of a successful season. I hope if we do win 6 we ask the NCAA for an exemption from their ruling we are not bowl eligable and that take them to court if they do not back down. My understanding is that Michigan is bowl eligable because the people who cheated are no longer with the team and the NCAA felt it was wrong to penalize the current team for misdeeds of the people who are no longer with the team. Using that logic, Akron should also be bowl eligible.1 point

Is that the year we got ran off the field by Toledo in Detroit? Going to the MAC championship with some college buddies was a fun experience regardless of result. We haven’t had much to enjoy being a Zips football fan, so I’ll take what I can get. If either Wyoming or UAB can pull off an upset, they are bowling. Even if not, im not sure they’re that much worse than other middling conference teams, and I think we’re better now. If we lose to the top teams (Miami, Toledo), have a winning record against decent teams (CMU, Buffalo, Ball State), and sweep the floor with the teams we’re supposed to beat, I’d say we’re a good team that deserves to play in a bowl.1 point

That's pretty cool, even more amazing you have to go back to Oct 23rd to find the last Zips single game loss (women's soccer lost to Western Michigan). Since then it's been wins from volleyball, rifle, football, men's soccer, volleyball, women's soccer (tie), volleyball and then the string you just rattled off. Heck of a couple of weeks.1 point

https://gozips.com/calendar Just take a look at this past calendar week's results. Jordan knew about the abuse and did nothing. Over 20 wrestlers went to him asking him to do something. His response was that's Dr. Strauss, what are you going to do about it. Now he claims he never knew. A champion liar and immoral human being who put power over principle. And still does.0 points
