CMU's fate actually comes down to Ohio winning tonight and CMU beating Balls on Friday. Should that occur, they will be the 7 seed vs. Akron in R1.

I want and expect a win, but my biggest hope is to get through these next two games healthy.

I know Dakich is polarizing - and I don't know if I was naive for thinking otherwise here - but I did not realize refs are paid differently depending on the home team's conference. If that's true, that's one of the biggest flaws in the entire system.

I would hate to see it happen, but if Groce has an itch to test his luck at a P5 programs there isn't much we can really do. I would hope Dustin Ford would be in consideration as the next coach in such a doomsday scenario. Considering Oats job looks secure in Alabama and no way any of us would want Hurley, I can't imagine there being another Groce falling into our laps.

A fluke 3 point win in that ancient craphole called Millett with a 20 FT advantage while Akron shot a season low(?) 25% from 3P is the only reason anyone is still talking about Miami OH as the last undefeated team. Just take it one game at a time and get me to March 14th.

Yup. You can't have Wright State as your best controllable OOC opponent and claim that nobody will play you. Absurd take. The question has to be asked: did they intentionally create a weak schedule to pad their success in order to push the new arena?

My thought about the chaos is this. It seems to me that P4 conferences are benefiting from the chaos. They are making money hand over fist and opportunities for success in P4 have increased. Indiana vs Miami seems to pretty good evidence. The transfer portal and player payments don't seem to keep people away from attending or watching games. I don't know why the P4 schools would want to reign any of this in given money is their driving motivation. It seems to me that pushing the greed to see what the breaking point may be is the most logical course of action.

Probably 25 years ago my softball team played in Kent, and went to Ray’s Place for post game beers. One evening they held “Pimp and Ho Night”. Several guys in fur coats and fedoras with their over-make-upped girls in fishnet stockings vied for a cash prize. Those were different times…good ones tho’ 😀

Give it a few more years of the B1G spanking the SEC and then some senator from Alabama or Louisiana will make reform a priority. Just look at how involved the Louisiana Governor was in the recent coaching change. It's an easy way for them to gain favor with their constituents without having to do a whole lot.

I would agree with this statement most years, but the Big East is having a bad year (by their standards). Buffalo beat 5th place DePaul by 13 earlier in the season. I think this season both Akron and Miami would compete in that 5-7 range in the conference.

Sure we are. Last season was the only year this senior class has had the #1 seed in the MAC tournament. I imagine in many of those years few had us slotted into the field a week before the tournament.

Not exactly a "Portal Departure" but Defensive Line coach Leonard has departed for Marshall university. I don't know if they have named a new d line coach yet or not but I don't certain players are going to be getting 700 snaps this upcoming season

I'm a big LeBron fan but I'll admit he is kinda... eccentric. (He was world famous as a teenager so it's understandable). When KD left for Duquesne LeBron wrote a letter to UA endorsing his former high school coach Dru Joyce Sr. for the job. When Dru was passed over he felt disrespected & I think that's when LBJ put some emotional distance between himself & UA. Hopefully he gets over it. I'm crossing my fingers he moves back to Akron (at least part time) after he retires & gets involved in the community like his high school friends Romeo Travis, Sian Cotton, & Willie McGee have done. Those guys could be living in condos on a beach somewhere but they're all involved in various aspects of STVM/iPromise enterprises. (So are Josh & John Williams, btw.) Yeah. The poor iPromise kids largely come from... suboptimal... home environments so though they've been given every publicly-funded academic advantage known to man they still have failing academic progress ratings. LeBron also built very nice, new condos for the families on the corner of Maple & Exchange but the families aren't taking care of them, as there are already holes in the walls & often-broken windows as well as homeless sneaking in to sleep (& defecate) in the hallways 🤦‍♂️. A young lady was just shot & killed in there a week ago 😕

I think I like playing Kent on the penultimate week of the regular season as opposed to the final week/game. Miami's got two potentially tough games this week in Toledo & Ohio, while we have what should be (🤞🤞) two easier matchups cruising into Cleveland. Miami's next two weeks could potentially look like: Toledo, Ohio, UMass, Ohio, Akron (🤞) If they don't lose at least one of those games, then 🫡 to them

This is a really pathetic basketball game. CSU was up by 14 and are only up by 3 now after they turned it over on an inbounds violation for running on the baseline without a previously made basket. 3 straight turnovers by CSU on inbounds plays.

Played around with the simulator a bit. 5 teams are vying for those final 2 spots. Kent, Toledo, Ohio, and BG are pretty well locked into that order. EMU, CMU, Balls, UMass, and Buffalo are all sweating. Tomorrow night is the most excited I've been in quite some time for non-Akron MACtion.

I could care less about how the MAC looks. The MAC does enough to embarrass themselves, including their handling of this situation. However, I'm tired of the kid glove treatment of Miami OH this year. Schedule, officiating, opponent mistakes - everything has favored them this year. If Steele is ejected in that WMU game, do they win? If he's suspended for tomorrow night, do they lose?

Yeah, there's no consistency or even an attempt to be consistent. That's the athletic department's fault, not Under Armour. Even with their social media, they use too many colors and fonts.

Kent has the ugliest uniforms across sports of any Division 1 school and it's not even close. I don't know how much of it has to do with bad branding or if its the outfitter. But it's just flat out embarrassing. Somehow these are all the same school. I think I counted 11 different fonts, 5 different logos and 6 different primary colors.

I’ve been out of state for a few years not, but I don’t remember the Costco in Boston Heights ever having anything for Akron. I think my favorite Akron apparel are the free shirts from GV Art & Apparel a few years ago lol.

I got tired of waiting on good hats to be released...I finally bought a blank hat and connected with a local business who embroidered the Zips logo on it for me. It looks really good.
