We'll have the same bench. You get to choose by seed and Groce always wants that bench. That's why our school purchased seats were so screwed up in that we got pushed back in those sections by the higher seeded Miami. It was satisfying to move down into some of their seats after they got beat and headed back down I-71. I would have preferred to play PCCC in the final in part because of the PCCC hangover we've all seen and Groce has acknowledged. In event, peel them tonight and play both nights like there's no tomorrow.3 points

I'm not relying on anything. I simply stated from what I've read it's something the committee utilizes. I'm not on the committee. You realize Miami was the first team to go undefeated in MAC play in nearly 70 years? The last time it occurred was 1958. Future MAC teams aren't going to be able to easily replicate Miami's path if it's a once in ~70 year occurrence. Even lower odds if the MAC expands to a 22 game conference schedule, like some have speculated. Once again you're dealing in hypotheticals. We don't know what our record would be if we played Miami's schedule nor do we know what Miami's record would be if they played ours. The committee can only evaluate a team from the schedules each team played and the results from those games. Miami was an absurd 8-0 in games that were decided by 1 possession or went to OT. That's the real reason they're in the at-large conversation. They were a good team that had a few bounces go their way that turned what should have been a 4 or 5 loss season in 1 loss.2 points

One can argue it's best for them to play in Dayton. That would be a much easier win opportunity for them than against a 6 seed. If they win in Dayton that would count as a tournament credit, which nets the MAC an extra $2M.2 points

The Polsky bookstore has a lot of really good gear on sale right now. They have some champion hoods and crews for under $35. And some MV sport fleece for under $402 points

there are always a few random MAC players i hope to never see again: Hadaway is one. Sabol is another but hes a junior...of course, Suder.2 points

He had another quote where he said he needs to reset the culture of the program. Either he knows his job is safe, or there is going to be a lot of irony when Ohio resets the culture naturally by firing him.2 points

Normally, but I'll take what I can get. She and her younger sister know the fight song words almost as well as the Lord's Prayer. I think I'm allowed to be proud of that. It's funny, she reads basic kids books and I'm half expecting a grad school brochure from Kent to appear in the mail any day now.2 points

Slow and lethargic. Gotta pick it up. Eric Mahaffey needs to have more confidence in his jump shot. Passed out of a wide open 3 to Sharron who was open for a second but borderline surprised he was getting the ball. By the time he shot it, a hand was in his face.1 point

I don’t see Groce going anywhere for one. But he’s not a good fit for Cincinnati. Not the right vibe. I see someone like Shaka Smart taking that job.1 point

I’ll be flying back from Puerto Rico during the second half of the game..going to be the longest flight in history. Kent even sucks in PR! Go Zips!1 point

Big Dog was a great athlete. I still think a big reason we lost to UB in 2016 was because he was a bit gassed. 3 games in 3 days is still a lot to ask for someone of his size.1 point

The selection committee is in a tough spot with Miami. The bubble has collapsed, all of the bubble teams fell apart. Miami went and lost to a .500 MAC school in the tournament, but they're 31-1. Miami's 11/11 Dayton game would be its first against even a Q2 opponent., but all of these bubble teams are 18-15 or some crap too. I don't envy that discussion that they're gonna have. I kinda think just because of the 31-1 (and I think the MAC is a little better at basketball than it's given credit for), they probably should be in...likely a play-in game, but in. But I wouldn't be shook up if they instead are a 1 in the NIT.1 point

I think it’s completely unfair that Miami had to deal with the effects of the time change when UMass and all the other MAC Tournament teams didn’t…Wait, what?!! 🤔🧐🤦♂️😔 If I’m not mistaken Groce switches up practice times just so the team learns to adjust to them.1 point

If Miami gets in, it encourages creampuff scheduling. The selection committee is smart enough to know this. If Miami had our schedule, they'd have at least 3-4 losses, and there would be no discussion about an at-large bid.1 point

I actually agree with Steele on a few of the things he is saying, but his blaming the format, the time, daylight savings time (lol what???) comes across as super whiny. His team is more unlikable than Kent this year IMO. With that said, I do think the MAC should adjust, and I think there's a simple answer. Thursday Bye - #1, #2 seeds #4 vs #5 #3 vs #6 Friday #1 vs #4/#5 winner #2 vs #3/#6 winner Saturday Championship Evening games both Thursday and Friday to allow more fans a chance to attend. The top two seeds start in the semis and earn an advantage for their regular season performance.1 point

Kent's board seems to think Buffalo was not a very good MAC team, so I went back to see how Kent fared against the Bulls this season. They only played once, in Buffalo, and Kent won by 6. That aside, holy crap did Buffalo get absolutely screwed with their MAC schedule. Their first 3 MAC games were fine - @ WMU, @ NIU, Balls - then it became Hell. @ OU Kent @ Miami OH Akron UMass @ BG OU Miami OH It was not long after this stretch they lost Freitag which made what should've been the easier part of their schedule, much more difficult. No wonder Groce was so complimentary of Halcovage.1 point

That's why I wanted Toledo to beat BG. BG was the best shooting team left on that side of the bracket, but they aren't good at anything else. Toledo will be able to match UMass physicality which bodes well for whomever faces the winner on Saturday night.1 point

I don’t see the victor of UMass vs Toledo being in any better condition. That game should be brutal as well.1 point

I thought the Zips did some hero ball and went for a few high difficulty shots which led to some empty possessions when they had a solid lead. Note the ending v Buffalo game at home and Buffalo quarterfinals 2022: few weeks ago Buffalo made same come back but Zips had a bigger cushion. 2022 Bulls had open 3 to win, Garvin backed off, and it rattled out. That last 3 at least Zach had his hand up. In 2022, after the close call, Zips cruised from there against Toledo and Kent.1 point

Not to my knowledge. We bought tickets in M118 for $31 each out the door using the ZIPS26 Angela Rizzo code.1 point

The Zips did not play their best basketball but still came out with a win. We only shot 33% from the three line and when we do not shoot the 3 ball well we are beatable. It was tough watching Buffalo come back 2 games in a row. We cannot close them out. We had a 16 point lead shrink to one but we came through in the clutch. Lyles was 0 for 5 from the 3 point line. We need better than that against Kent. Eric Mahaffey only took one shot that he made. Would like to get him more involved in the offense. Considering this is his first MAC tourney game, he may have been a little hesitant to shoot. Glad to see we were even on the boards. Both teams sucked at the foul line. Buffalo shot 50% and we shot 60%. However, we did get some offensive rebounds off of our misses. Lets hope we can raise our game against Kent. I still think our 3 point shooting is key.1 point

Tickets secured for tomorrow night. Gotta keep those mouth breathers at bay. Let's go Zips!1 point

I think just how bad the bubble has been, they're gonna get in. I think it might be a trip to Dayton, but they're gonna get in.1 point

The LeBron connection does get our basketball team some sweet gear. It would be cool if they actually wore LeBron branded unis at some point. Like UNC/Jordan, TT/Mahomes, and Louisville/Mitchell. Nike is the best brand when it comes to college sports. Yeah, it sucks that we don't get the same treatment as the big schools. But that's to be expected. They need to follow the money too.1 point

Relevant up to date MAC Tournament numbers: 21 and 71. 21- Tavari's points with 9:18 left in the game. 71- As in I-71, the highway Peter Suder is currently on on his way back to Oxford.1 point

My 6 yo daughter was working on her penmanship during homeschooling today. My wife was having her write the letter "Z" and she kept making it big and wide. When asked why, my daughter said, "That's how Akron's Z looks." Her younger siblings have a lot to live up to. She's setting the bar high.1 point

Remi Agunbiade looks like he leveled up since last we saw him. More composure on the ball. He was a handful for the Vikings every time he touched it.1 point

And when Miami OH gets pounded by 20+, any future push for a 2 bid MAC in the future will be that much more difficult. Sacrifice the money this year, snub Miami OH, and let the conversation be "what if" instead of "I told you the MAC is overrated."0 points
