Some more GREAT work by WZIP...Also TIno's comments show that @UAZip0510 was correct once again in that he was planning on transferring before KD left.

Thanks for sharing that.  It is impressive that Antino's decision to consider leaving Akron was not a knee jerk reaction to KD deciding to leave.  The players have a right to be upset with KD since a big part of his pitch to them was that he was not leaving Akron.  If Antinos goal is to play in a big 5 conference, he will be competing against bigger and more athletic guys to get playing time.  He has to realize that it is risk since he may not get the playing time coming into a new program.  If he wants to play pro ball in Europe as many other Akron athletes, the safer move would be to stay with Akron where he is guarenteed playing time and is already part of the system.

To add, I have to imagine he would be the focal point of Groce's system next year if he is here.

GT sat at the press conference today and smirked and took notes.  Whatever

He asked the first question...something like, what is it like being here, after being at OU?

Love the WZIP interview. Nice job Khalil, get some more.

GT. It's around the 22 min mark. Coach's first response was "I didn't anticipate that question..."

GT:  "If you could be any animal, what animal would you be?"

I thought Antino was vastly underutilized last year.  I can't imagine that didn't play into his thought process as the season wore on.  I think Groce's system would benefit him, so I hope he comes back.

The first two years paying $350,000 --- which from a budget standpoint works better for UA. It also means that he blows out of town with any success after yr 2. The financial bar has been lowered. Im sure the contract bumps up after yr 2, but I have to guess UA lobbied for the lower salary -- and with Illinois kicking in $the balance of $1.7, Groce knows if he is successful  for 2 yrs he will get another crack at greener pastures.

Edit--not knowing what is there long term, I think this is an appropriate deal short term.. good job LW

If John Groce can come close to duplicating what Dambrot accomplished, he will be a huge success.

Pluto's such an asshat.
