Akron football players would be very upset if they could read this comment.

Not all of them, which makes comments like this particularly dumb.

I agree my comment was snarky and it does not apply to all the football players just like our comments about Kent does not apply to all of the Kent student athletes.  I am sure there are student athletes on our football team who do well academically so I would apologize to those players.  I hate to be a hypocrite and find it hard to denigrate the Kent program with our own failings academically in football.

Even though this is an anonymous sports message board, this thread has jumped the shark and lacks insightful and/or original thought.   "Kent State sucks" and "Akron football players are dumb" are worn out tropes.

Nate's going to have some transfer company at Kansas State as they just "signed" PJ Haggerty, a 6'3" guard from Memphis, the nation's third leading scorer last year.  It will be his 4th school in 4 years.

Not intending to throw shade, but being the first or second guy off the bench is probably a better fit for him at the P4 level.

I see you can buy basketball season tickets now. Of course they haven't posted a season schedule yet. 🙄

I see they raised general admission ticket prices. It's still not a bad value when you break it down by game. It comes out to ~$6-$7/game depending on how many home games there are.

i have a source, who has contacts in the ticket office, and he told me that the upcoming schedule features a team playing in every game that won back to back conference tournaments and was undefeated at home last season.

Seems like price gouging to me.  So it's either a carton of eggs or a Zips home game?  Highway robbery.

Camden seemed to be a pretty big part of the renewed energy around basketball last season.

Didn't he have a similar title at Akron? It seems like a lateral move on the surface. I know there were comments about what Akron was achieving with a very small support staff. I wonder if feeling overwhelmed play a part in his departure.

...or feeling rejected in the hiring process of the new AD.

I agree with you. New AD’s always bring in “their guys.” If you are a Guthrie underling your resume and profile was updated the day he bolted for Fordham.

i thought the guy had potential. It’ll be interesting to follow his career over the next several years.

This is actually a move up for Camden. At Akron his main job was development(fundraising). This new position is better suited to what he showed after Charles departed. External operations is more about the day to day operations of the department. It also reunites him with his former coworker who is the AD at Omaha. It's also much closer to where he grew up in Missouri.

We don't have any scholarships available, do we?

Depends ... Zips might send a guy to prep school and resign him in October. Miami and a few other programs have done this recently to get a kid late.

(Miami kid just spent a year at Spire. Got bigger and stronger, too.)
