  2. There should be a financial penalty for backing out of a contract that one signed just a few weeks prior. Otherwise it only benefits the player, not the school he signed it with as he would be free to leave anytime, but the school is committed for the length of the contract. If the situation was reversed and Georgia rescinded his scholarship and ripped up his NIL deal after he signed we would be ripping Georgia apart saying they owe him every last penny. Perhaps the buyout on the players part shouldn't be 100% of remaining value, but I wouldn't be opposed to 25% or 50%. Something needs to prevent players from signing with a team, but then continuing to shop for a better deal. If the concern is about predatory contracts perhaps certified agents should be negotiating these deals instead of these random 'agents' off the streets or family friends.
  3. Him not playing at all for the Timberwolves while losing multiple development games in the G League is odd. I liked him better in Indiana.
  4. It is a complete mystery whether this is good or bad for Freeman. He is a starter for the Iowa Wolves and will get to play instead of just sitting the bench in Minnesota.
  5. Zips are favored by 7.5 points according to ESPN
  6. I agree with the second part, but did you read the article? The contract was predatory and the player never should've been directed to sign it. "The deal states that if Wilson withdrew from the Georgia team or entered the transfer portal, he would owe the collective a lump-sum payment equal to the rest of the money he'd have received had he stayed for the length of the contract." I hope there's common sense applied in this ruling. Make the kid pay back what he was paid, but don't rob him. Screw Georgia for going after the full amount.
  7. Nothing good is coming out of Minnesota right now and their handling of Freeman thus far might be the worst news of it all.

  9. Since I grew up in Stow, I obviously love the Zemanski jersey behind Coach Embick in this video. and I always love to hear @fknbuflobo tell the story about how Caleb Porter's first action as Akron U. head coach was to travel to Stow, Ohio. Ben Zemanski had committed to play soccer for Akron when Lolla was the coach. Caleb went to sit down with Ben Zemanski and Dan Zemanski to convince them that Akron was still the best choice for Ben's college career. Ben Zemanski was a great midfielder and he was a building block on those excellent teams from 2006-2009.

  11. Is thar even the MAC's call?
  12. I honestly prefer it. One can attend the game without having to take the day off work. Besides the Big 10 Championship, which is what the MAC locals would care about, doesn't start until 8PM. There is plenty of time between them that someone could watch both. The MAC does a lot wrong, but having both the football and basketball championship games on Saturdays is the one thing they get right IMO.
  13. More stupidity by the MAC. Watching the SBC and AAC Championships tonight, they have a pretty captive audience. What does the MAC do!? Schedule our Championship right against all the Power Conferences. Geniuses. This s#%it shouldn't be that hard.
  14. I hope UGA gets it. NIL can't only be a one way deal in favor of the athlete.
  15. If it makes anyone feel better, three of Kent’s five all-conference selections have already announced they’re heading to the portal.
  16. Congratulations to Zips Alum / 2025 USL Championship champion Beto Ydrach on returning with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in 2026.
  17. Georgia seeks $390K from DE Damon Wilson for transfer damages https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47212583/georgia-seeks-390k-de-damon-wilson-transfer-damages
  18. I agree. Gant and Laventure should have been first team. It looks like the first team DL is actually four defensive ends and no tackles. I’m also surprised DeWalt didn’t get a mention. Had we won more games, he probably would have. Though six selections is about right for a five win team. Glad to see K.Davis make it.
  19. I don't disagree, but I suspect teams are only looking at the tape when talking to guys.
  20. With NIL, why are scholarships needed at all?
  21. Actually, SLU leads the series history 7-5-1 and 2-0-0 in the NCAAT ('71 and '75). Time to claw another one of those losses back! We are 3-0-1 against them in the past four matches. https://gozips.com/news/2025/12/5/mens-soccer-akron-hosts-saint-louis-in-ncaa-tournament-quarterfinals https://gozips.com/news/2025/9/22/mens-soccer-akron-hosts-saint-louis-in-top-25-showdown
  22. Can they take the directional Michigan's with them?
  23. I think that this paper.....is very near Jared's home town (Granite City) https://www.thetelegraph.com/sports/article/slu-akron-elite-eight-ncaa-soccer-embick-kalish-21219014.php
  24. That would be fine by me. How nice will it be to shed the dead weight that is NIU next year?
