Jack Sullivan was also among the starters. The Zips may have not been as good due to the dirty, physical play by Detroit Mercy. Unfortunately, a number of our players were injured as a result. The ref needed to have a better handle on it. I'm not a fan of cards in exhibition games, but some red cards were warranted but not given. Yellows were insufficient. -

When has Akron finished non-conference play with only 1 loss? Even the year we were momentarily ranked we lost 4 games in OOC play. I don't see how we would only lose 1 OOC game, especially considering that we have 4 new starters and a very revamped bench unit. It's going to likely take most of OOC play before we start firing on all cylinders. -
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45968911/2025-preseason-college-football-bottom-10 We didn’t land in the Bottom 10 going into Week 1 (or is it still Week 0?), but we did end up on the “Waiting List.” Two of our opponents, though, weren’t as lucky.

Last night was a 2-1 win for the Zips. A first half goal (maybe 30 or 35 minutes in, I don't remember) was scored off a free kick. Not sure who was credited with the goal, it was just kinda knocked in from a scrum on the back post. The 2nd goal was fairly early in the 2nd half scored by Ferguson, a header from a nice cross. Detroit got a penalty with about 10 minutes left. Kaminski was in goal for the Zips, I heard rumors that Budler has a minor injury. Bahur and Alem started for Akron (in for Filsinger and Borneo, I think?), with the rest of the Starting XI the same as last match, I believe. In my opinion, the Zips were not as good as the match against St Bonaventure, but it could be fatigue after 3 matches in very hot weather. -

At large conversation or back to back home losses to start the season: the 25-26 campaign rests on a knife's edge. -

I agree we need to win. But if you think about it. I think we will be favored in every game but the Purdue game. Head to conference with 1 loss and you will be on the bubble with a 16-2 conference record. That would be 28-3 going into the MAC tournament. -
I thought like having a little fun, starting a thread where people can post random, kinda cool UAkron/AkronZips related memorabilia Jason Taylor and the old A-style mini helm. Charlie Frye with the A-Roo style helm. Random metal stuff I've found over the years that were Zips related, or from being a season ticket holder. Feel free to post cool Akron Zips Memorabilia that you have. The more unique the better! And if anyone knows the stories of particular stuff, it's even cooler to hear!

I'm not standing on a moral high horse. Morality has never been my strong suit. "Being right is the boobie prize." A contractor once told me this. Fighting and winning this case in 2027 would get us nothing and be little more than a distraction. I really don't give a crap what guys are Tweeting. In fact, the transfer portal has given me the go-ahead to not give a crap about them since their loyalty is about an inch deep. I'd rather they put their efforts towards getting ready for the season. After all, they are professionals now. I think winning against Wyoming would give this team more of a jolt in 2025 than winning a lawsuit against the NCAA in 2027.

My guess/hope is that IF we get to 6-6, either Akron or the NCAA will make a move to get/provide relief.

UMass in conference this year? -
If this year’s team can’t at least get to six wins with a schedule that features two three-win G5 teams from last season, an FCS opponent, and five MAC programs breaking in new head coaches, then some changes need to be made.
-
I never stated that 6-6 was impossible, just that it was very unlikely to achieve. Nothing I've seen from Moorhead thus far gives me confidence that he can right this ship given the financial limitations he faces. I'll let the season play out to see the final record, but I would be absolutely stunned if we sniff 6 wins.

The precedent was set today that the actions of previous regimes should not penalize the current roster. Whatever moral high horse you want to stand on is your choice, but I don't view accepting an inconsistent and undeserving punishment for the current staff & roster as morally just - especially from the morally bankrupt NCAA. The amount of times they've screwed over the University... F em. Auburn and NMSU weren't penalized for failing APRs in the same time frame as Akron, and the APR doesn't even work with the current model and landscape for college athletics. Akron has had YOY improvements under JoeMo that haven't been enough to pull us out of the hole Arth dug, so they've clearly been working towards correcting the problem. I also don't think Akron loses this case if they choose to fight it, especially if they were able to get the NCAA killer Dave Yost's assistance in the fight. A win vs the NCAA would be great publicity. Show me 7 automatic losses on this schedule. It's the most winnable schedule we've had in a long long time, and 6-6 should be the minimum threshold for success this year. Akron is known for having a losing football program - the PR can't get worse. Might as well try to get rid of the cloud hanging over the season. Joe Mo and player(s) have liked tweets today mentioning their BS punishment and suggesting that Akron should fight it. Coaching and playing with this looming over the program can't be fun or easy. Having a spine and standing up to the NCAA could give the program a jolt.

The ABJ wouldn't give Akron a bad look in this case. Akron would be giving itself a bad look.

While I like the schedule, that is extremely doubtful. Outside of Purdue I just don't see any Q1 win opportunities. Several Q2 and Q3 opportunities, but that isn't going to be enough given the lack of quality win opportunities in MAC play. We would probably need to win 30+ games before we could even enter the conversation. Not saying it's right, but its the reality of the situation based off how the committee has selected teams in the past. -
Erroneous post... it was for a low academic progress rate, not "bad grades"

Only 6 non conference games 2 against non D1 But the other 4 are solid. The neutral and road games are really good. I like it a lot and think if we play our cards right might have a chance at large bid - Last week

Nice to see there was still room for the Concord Grapes. Maybe we can return the home cooking we got at Princeton.
