  1. If you play the audio backwards you can hear "Akron wins the MAC...beats Brimfield every year..."

  2. 💯 this is it. ALL IN! I would guess part of Coach M's negotiation is getting the $$ to get the coaches he wants. He is smart enough to know he can't turn this around by himself. I don't think Charlie Frye is a stretch as OC and I think it would be a good move for him. If Coach M is our guy, I would expect him to hit the transfer portal hard for to top flight players. I am sure his goal and UA's goal will be a very quick turnaround. If you are a QB with NFL aspirations, Coach M would be a great guy to play for (Do you hear me Zach Gibson?) Oh, and please change back to the Z helmets!!

  3. I graduated Akron in 2012 and have attended maybe only a handful of football games since graduating. I'll be on the phone Monday inquiring about season tickets if this deal goes through this weekend. I'd say it would be Akron's first real commitment towards trying to win since Infocision was built.

  4. This is truly amazing. I can't wait to see the official Tweet with the graphic that reads: JOE MOORHEAD--HEAD FOOTBALL COACH, THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON The future is now. Akron football has a good an opportunity as it has ever had to return the magic. I believe in Joe!

  9. These would be some nice targets from the Transfer portal. With all these coaching changes going on this list will get larger. Ohio State Illinois Notre Dame (I bet this will be growing) Michigan State Indiana Minnesota Marshall Temple Def Line O Line Linebackers Wide Receivers Runningbacks There is a big turnaround in there somewhere 😁

  10. Couldn't Solich have gotten a high P5 coordinator or lower-end P5 HC position post-Huskers? Why would he go to lowly struggling G5 OU?

  11. The Akron football legend going forward will be that late one night in the Summer of 2021, Charles Guthrie was perusing Zipsnation and came upon this "What about Joe Moorhead" thread and had his "AHA" moment.

  12. Friday night will be fun! Oregon wins, camera zooms in on Moorhead, who opens his shirt Superman style to reveal a big A-Roo logo. Go Zips!

  13. Spoken like a man who has been there, done that and been pretty successful doing so along the way. I heard confidence, discipline, leadership, lots of wins in the MAC, return to the MAC Championship game (including being crowned champion), bowl invites and wins, P5 upsets and a return to enjoyable Fall Saturdays and Tuesdays. Feels very strange to be in the running for a guy like this. I know - no guarantees but jeez ...

  14. We have had twice as many guests online as we do members this week. I would encourage Zips fans browsing to join in. If anyone needs help, let me know. All the Kent fans should remain as a guest. 😂

  17. I have another huge positive. There is a core group of about 50-100 Zips Nations members who have gone completely insane over the last few days regarding potential options of the new coach. I love the passion of the dedicated fan base. Let's get the right guy (Joe), move forward and recruit great talent and win, win, win!!! Just like my post from the 86 basketball run, lets grow this small group into 20,000+ crazy Zip fans. Go Akron.

  21. I will be back as well. I hate to ASS U ME this is a done deal, but this shows me that UA wants my support and wants to win. That has not been evident for quite a few seasons. Can we even buy 2022 Season Tickets yet? Better get that ticketmaster issue fixed!

  22. I usually go to one game a year but I will be buying season tickets when this is made official. Extremely happy with this hire.

  23. I've been away from Zipsnation for at least 3 seasons. Firing Bowden really made me question the athletic department and knew Arth would be another Ianello. This is the first time I have felt optimism in the program since I gave up my season tickets. I will be looking into options for my family going into this season. FWIW - George Thomas is reporting it as a done deal. I would link to the article but we all know how the Beacon Journal is online.

  24. Some have been down on the AD. I wish he was standing next to me so I could shake his hand and tell him he did a good job. I really didn't have much of an option about him before this. The Arth firing was a pretty low bar to clear in the competency category. I have been down on Dr. Miller because I thought his handling of the messaging of the goings-on at the school has been poor. The AD hire makes me feel less down about him. This is a good hire. Everyone should feel optimistic. I sure do.

  25. This is a good point. Solich took over a horrible program, injected high standards, showed game day competency and turned that program. He was a real prick and the players responded.

  27. We were relevant? But seriously, I'm salivating at the thought of winning 8/9/10 games a season. Can you imagine: Going to Infocision Stadium on a Saturday afternoon and EXPECTING to leave happy? Completely blows me away. Now I understand that the hire needs to be finalized, and Coach will have to have unprecedented success within the program, but this hire would be approximately 3,495,635,312.55x better than Tom Arth. Also...the 3-24 record with Coach Arth's salary breaks down to >$500k per FBS win in his 3 years. Ouch.

  28. During the past 3 days of refreshing the "latest" for a Joe Moorhead search on Twitter, someone mentioned he is close with either Harbaugh or someone else on the Michigan staff. Apparently a very similar game plan was used to beat OSUcks this past weekend. Moorhead's Game Plan: 2 Suckeyes: 0

  31. Yep, Microsoft Edge is an issue. Surprising from a Microsoft product 🤓 @LZIpI checked the support community, and it seems Edge is an issue. I'll keep my eyes open for a fix on the next update, and let you know. Sorry. BTW, there are many issues being discussed on Edge, most often given solution, switch browsers.

  35. Thanks for bringing this up. Watching some this evening. Learning more about his offense, I wonder if DJ is naturally a better fit (not that Zach wasn't a capable runner himself).

  38. Search Joe Moorhead on YouTube and there are some awesome videos. In an interview today he spoke about being in the booth because of his recent health scare. Mentions briefly his MAC Championship game. There's another video in which he's described as a genius. He said his priorities are: 1. Personal and Family. 2. Professional 3. Monetary. Said he grew up poor and he's doing fine. Also, the "drag my Yankee ass out of here" interview is intense. You can tell he hated it there at MSU.

  39. My guess regarding coaches - Maybe a Grad Assistant. That's about it. Incumbent Players? Whomever wants to stay, and buys into his program. 2022 Recruits - I'll guess a handful. Probably < 5 of those who remain committed would be offered by the new coach My guesses based on past "new regime" history...

  42. Not sure where to post this, so I will here. I watched No. Illinois beat Buffalo in OT this week to go to 8-3 (6-1 MAC), and there were a couple of significant points. First, No. Illinois was winless last year, and the second is that 80% of their roster was freshman or sophomores. The third point that was made was that they added some significant upper classmen through the portal. As I rewatched the Akron Kent game last night, I heard the comment that Kent probably led the country in the amount of grad transfers that they signed so that they have a significant amount of seniors on the roster. This was needed to provide experience as the young players developed. I see some very strong parallels to my beloved Zips here. So, if Akron finds a good coach, uses the portal and transfers well, I believe that the Zips can make the jump to a top tier MAC team next year. On offense, the top players are mostly freshman at the QB, RB, WR, and OL positions. On Defense, the Line, LB's, and DB's are mostly freshman and sophomores. We need Bubba back at LB, and our DL is very thin and weak. So, if we can utilize the portal and grad transfers to add upperclassmen, the Zips can significantly improve. This will allow our young players to mature and get stronger and better so that they can be very good when they are juniors and seniors. Akron can be the next No. Illinois and go from last to first in the MAC if it is done correctly. I (and others) have made these points in the past, but the comments from this weeks games helped pull everything together and into focus. So, AD Guthrie, get off your derriere and hire a good coach, get some good upperclassmen from the portal, keep the good young players (and there are many of them), and let's have a 2022 season that we can celebrate for a long time. Go Zips!!! (no, I am not high to write this article, I truly believe in this blueprint)
