My guess is an OC & a DC will be hired, but are probably higher-profile names coaching for teams in bowl games at the moment. Every coach that has been announced is either unemployed, not in a bowl game, or a GA.

I pegged yesterday’s attendance at 300-400 in the crowd. I keep thinking my chances of getting picked for the $10k putt would be better but it still hasn’t happened. 😂

Wow!!!!! Coach hasn’t been official for a week and we are already trash talking him and his recruits…… (smh). Answer me this….. when is the last time the Zips had a 6-4 310 DL that appears to be very athletic. Who knows what this young man will produce on the field but I like him on paper. Let’s support these young men until they do something to change our minds.

Can't blame OU fans for attempting to talk smack. I guarantee you they're scared..not only for our hire but for the product whats his face put on the field for them this past season. A true double whammy. I'm sure Kent fans are worried as well, but there aren't enough of them that know how to use the internet for us to see.

He's playing the point a little more than I expected. It was interesting to see the brief periods yesterday when he, Clark and X were on the court at the same time. I like the idea of X playing the 2 occasionally and focusing on getting off his shot.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a piece called Good News With Gary on social media today. It was a 4 minute video where Dr. Miller shares some good news about the University. Not the most exciting guy, but well done none the less. A much better use of his time in front of the public than we have seen in the past. Maybe someone can put up the link.

Spot on. The Zips played very poorly down the stretch away from the JAR last season, and two years ago it could be argued that they played better on the road than they did at the JAR in some instances. The biggest thing has been shooting away from the JAR. Trimble specifically. I'd like to look at his home/road splits and see how big the difference really is. I'm curious to see how the Zips do in their first true road game against a fellow mid-major.

So in the past many kids have walked away from football because of many challenges. It’s very difficult, numerous things that put a kid down on the depth chart & they finally say I’m not working this hard with no chance in site Now it’s just I can make it somewhere else, hit the portal takes away from the fringe high school players cause those kids quit in the past & now they can just change schools at least once and on top of the 4 game red shirt & free Covid year it’s more difficult than ever to get recruited for the not so obvious college players it will get better but it’s difficult right now

Maybe 4* and high-end 3* recruits won't choose upper-echelon P5s to be their 3rd string (insert position here). This will shake itself out to find a nice balance in the end.

Maybe we can incorporate the turnover pencil instead of a sword.

Interesting enough, UCF had script helmets this year that I thought looked nice because it was more refined and they were able fit a sword into the design. But it turns out they actually ripped it off from a high school team (Hickory Christian Academy), made a few tweaks and passed it off as their own. So I guess it could be worse.

The clues seem to me to be that the next OC is none other than JoeMo. The QB coach is too inexperienced to be the OC and if I was the HC I would want to call my offense for at least one year and see how things shake out. If the LB job is still open, I see that person being the next DC. We are getting a lot of really good assistants. Makes me think UofA isn't just opening their wallet for a new HC, but some quality assistants as well. Sometimes you have to give a little to get something. Maybe the tradeoff is there can't be enough budget for a person to just have a coordinators job.

This is why it's been so disappointing that Wynn has earned ZERO PT. After Walton's inglorious departure, we're running a 7-man rotation. That's awfully thin. Ali's been playing every minute of the game.

If I remember correctly he pissed off enough Zips fans that some were ready to confront him in person. The internet tough guy probably figured it was best to shut his mouth. They definitely care more about the Zips than we care about them. Our rival is Kent. I couldn't care less about OU.

Snipe all you want, but this coach and staff know exactly what they are doing. Trust the process. They are getting the talent we need, just not the way you want. I trust their competence over your preference. Perhaps over the last three years you have forgotten what competence is. It is easy to forget when it is nowhere present so I guess you can be forgiven. You are forgiven my son, now go in peace and say five Hail JoeMO's.

From what I've seen/read, it looks like the Zips and the Rockets might be 3/4. 4/3 in the MAC power rankings behind UB-OU. And even if Akron is No. 4, the Zips depth should be the ace in the hole down the stretch of the season. After that, perhaps Miami with all of their seniors is the real deal, or maybe BG comes around. As for the team down the road, they seem to have depth issues as well. Several games of theirs (Xavier, Towson, West Virginia) have been competitively close until the final 8-minutes or so when they seem to run out of gas. Backcourt is solid but baseline players whistle through the graveyard. Their two SEC transfers have been injured and out of action for the most part leaving them with a very young bench. They could get better as the season goes on ... or they could get worse.

What a concept, hiring coaches with not only D1 experience, but also P5! Certainly a change from his predecessor. 🙄

Akron is about to become a Hell of a team here! With the coaching staff coming about, and with the talent I assume Coach Moorhead can recruit, we are going to be seeing some exciting times sooner rather than later in the win column!

It’s just not the zips.

Speaking for myself and my 4 usual tickets, we haven't been to a game yet. We still purchased the tickets as a show of support for UA, but I don't see myself back in-person at a game until next season. This is out of an excessive abundance of caution with two little ones and a spouse with immune issues. Probably being over-the-top, but there's still a lot nobody knows about this virus, so I don't see the point in attending when I can see a game on TV.

I heard today that after the WVU/Garrettsville Fashion and Animal Husbandry College game someone asked Huggins why he scheduled teams like our Portage County rivals and he responded along the lines that going back to his time with the Zips he always enjoys putting it on the Flushes!

Just wanted to say how wrong I was about Tribble this year. In our preseason talk I had him penciled in as riding the pine behind X & Clarke at PG and/or Walton & Dawson @ 2G. But Tribble's pretty much turned into our best PG & Groce puts the ball in his hands when it's crunch time. Way to prove me wrong, Greg!!! 💪💪

From reading all of the posts in this thread I can see one problem- there have been too many damn logos. The school needs to pick something and stick with it for a little while. Part of branding is recognition and that's lost when you are always switching things up.

So what your saying is most of the boys woke up this year and all of a sudden became terrible football players. How would you know if they are bad if they do not receive any opportunity to showcase themselves.? Hmmm I believe the Vikings have a receiver who every D1 school passed on but is now a All pro in the league. A little school in MN took a chance and gave him a chance when no one else would.He said no one wanted him. I guess he was a bad player too ?

That is not totally true. There is a lot of politics goes on in college sports. There are players that are as good or even slightly better than the starters on all teams but may never see the field until they have earned their "stripes". Hope this is not happening at Akron but it sure seems like it may be with the coaching staff's reluctance to even try other player combinations at certain positions especially Oline. On top of that, you have coaches not wanting to eat crow over bad recruiting decisions so they stick with sub-par players for much longer than they should. In my mind, if a player consistently outperforms a starter, whether a walk on or scholarship kid, regardless of years on the team, they should be elevated to put the best product on the field.
