  1. Past hour
  2. Speaking about this here in an Akron message board is one thing......Get the word out! Every person who goes to the polls to vote should understand what they are voting for or against and right now I do not think they do. The comments about these universities should be plastered all over northeast Ohio and really the entire state.
  3. Wentz liked and retweeted these. I think we know what The Orchestrator wants.
  4. Dru Joyce...so he can fire the nicest guy in the world at a different school!
  5. Ford is the only correct answer.
  6. I think KD is the most important coach in Zips basketball history. But I don't think his style works at all in today's game. I also think he ended his career in the best way possible.
  7. If not Ford. Dustin, not his brother. Let's go after a retired NBA player. Damon Stoudamire just got fired. Mo Williams, Andre Miller.
  8. Akron is being left on solid footing. You may need to plan better.
  9. Shorter lines for $2 beers nights at the JAR as well.
  10. Akron can certainly offer him more to be a head coach than CoC can pay him to be an assistant. Ford IMO only follows Groce if he prefers to just be an assistant and has no desire to be a head coach.
  11. It’s been a bitch getting a beer and a burger at Corner Alley the past several years. Looking forward to the smaller lines and increased leg room when pregaming in 2027!
  12. I wouldn't expect anything less from Groce. He is a stand up guy and I know this couldn't have been easy on him either
  13. If so, that's a perfectly reasonable and respectable scenario from both sides. If it played out that way, so be it.
  14. Live look at Nemer and Goodrich attempting to move Akron, OH, to a beautiful oceanfront location in the south.
  15. I’d only be fully on board with hiring Ford if it guarantees Sharron and Eric return. Otherwise, it makes sense to explore other options—Dru Joyce, the App State coach, Maciariello, Robinson from CSU… and hell even hear out Bob Huggins. Obviously not apples to apples, but the admin and players thought they had their guy at Michigan, and it resulted in a train wreck. Just saying—due diligence matters. Don't make a rash hire for the sake of making a rash hire.
  16. They could have asked to be given the last look, JG shows them the offer and they told they couldn't do it. Decision made.
  17. its been an amazing 9 years. incredible fun. but these situations dont last forever. im excited for what is next.
  18. Now I am really curious as to what UA may have tried to do to counter Groce's CoC offer or upgrade the program, even if only marginally.
  19. Maybe we can turn out like Buffalo when Hurley left
  20. Groce's teams were really fun and I appreciate the high character of the guys he brought in. The last 5 years have been especially fun. He didn't do what everyone said he would, though, in taking this program to levels KD couldn't, so that is disappointing. I often wonder what the program may have looked like if a skinny kid didn't decide to attend an open tryout...but you also have to credit the player development, too (Ford seemingly had a huge role in that). He's a good man and I wish him the best.
  21. Plz no
  22. With any coaching change I am going to be skeptical. With an Akron zips coaching change I will be even more skeptical. Until I’m proven otherwise all I can think about is us turning out like Buffalo once oats left
  23. I'm hoping there were enough conversations behind the scenes so that the AD was not caught off guard and already has formulated some thought about where he will go next.
