A Zips game broadcast mentioned the Infocision turf would be replaced in the offseason. It is 12 years old, and typically shouldn't go more than 8 years between replacements.4 points

If Joe can address Irons’ ball security issues, and the Zips OL issues, we would be in good shape with Irons at QB next year. Definitely trust that Joe will bring in a quality veteran qb to compete for the job too.4 points

The most shocking thing about this poll is that someone actually voted for the script logo3 points

Agreed. But I think they probably filmed that at the Cleveland Hopkins airport.3 points

This has been a blast since the rumor of Coach JoeMo broke. We talk Coach. Now we're talking staff. Then we'll talk recruits. Then we'll finally have good football to discuss! Crazy times.3 points

Can we create a script Fear the Roo logo for helmets? So cool. Please don't show this to Gary Miller, or we might actually get it. 😁3 points

I like how Groce essentially characterized the Florida trip as a positive in that it exposed their weaknesses, showed them what they had to work on and brought some humility.2 points

He's followed on Twitter by Moorhead and Fessler. Went to UCF initially as a highly rated high school player, has a handful of offers currently. Was recently committed to Mizzou but cited roster room as his reason for de committing. Colorado, So. Miss, Charlotte, UAB, Coastal, ULM, Utah State, USF, ULL, Buffalo, Jackson State. These folks aren't messing around. Aim high!!!2 points

Kentucky ended up winning by 12. Southern is a damn good opponent for a test that they gave, and I’m glad we scheduled them. They gave us the game a lot of MAC teams will give us, trying to beat you up and beat you down despite being less talented. And their coach and Groce were going at it. This was no KD cupcake.2 points

As a graphic designer it drives me crazy and yes, I probably care more about this stuff than the casual fan. The issue I have is that the Akron wordmark isn't a logo. It's a stock Nike font from their Uniform Builder site using their generic "Script" font. I'm assuming whoever was in charge of ordering the basketball uniforms a few years ago, went to that site and picked that font for the jerseys. This is perfectly okay and it happens all the time. Some examples: Unless you're Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse, etc. You order basketball uniforms from a specific list of templates. The athletic budget for smaller schools can't afford to have custom uniforms designed and honestly Nike isn't really worried about what Akron, BG and Toledo are wearing. The issue is that someone important liked it so much they wanted to make it the official logo of a D1 school. Basically the equivalent of going into Microsoft word, picking a clipart image and using it as an official logo. Something that's done by lower level High Schools. The full kangaroo and Z logos looked awesome on the helmets and hope Miller and Guthrie take note.2 points

Expires Nov 30, 2022. Extended in Feb 2021 after 7 years of so-so results. Typical Larry Williams mismanagement of UA Ath Dept. Thank goodness it was only a 1-year extension. Of course, one would think if you had a year left on your contract you would be out recruiting the local talent. From what I’ve heard, Noreen seems to have no interest in checking out the talent in Akron... probably too far to commute.1 point

Happy to see United Soccer Coaches give Danny the recognition he deserves even though the MAC did not.1 point

I hope, you know, that you are correct.1 point

I'd say both are earning time through production. Especially Tribble. He's always played tough defense. But recently he seems to have traded his 3-point shots for aggressive drives to the hole. He's finishing at a higher percentage, drawing fouls, and hitting his FT's. He played great against Southern. What's not to like? There were probably 28-32 game-minutes freed up by KJ's departure, and it seems like Dawson and Tribble have seized them. It's a small post-Florida sample size, but I like the trend.1 point

Was sifting through some recruiting stuff while on lunch today. Discovered Adante ended up committing to the Mighty Vaqueros of Rio Grande Valley State. Not sure what happened, but sure is strange a 4* kid with offers from Akron, Arizona, Ole Miss, Arizona State, Tulsa and handful of others, ends up at a low major that has finished with a record above .500 exactly 4 times in the last 30 years. Coincidentally, RGVS was also the home of former Zips Coach Dan Hipsher from 2013-2016 where he amassed a less than stellar 27-66 (.290) record.1 point

He was on staff during the transition between the Rubber Bowl and the Big Dialer. I hope someone asks him if he knows what happened to the doorless stall in the Rubber Bowl. Someone has to know.1 point

The nice thing about the Z is it's the same for both sides, like the basketball court. If they really want the script, they could do the end zones like your first option with the Z in the middle. Geez, now I'm sounding like a client: can we combine them?1 point

What does the current field look like, I'm having bigtime mandela effect where I swear it's still the ARoo, but then I see the Z on the field in my head because they changed it on the Infocision Sign and the basketball court. My head hurts now...how something you literally see all the time and when forced to remember what it looks like you can't....1 point

I say, big Z in the middle of the field and script Akron in the end zones. Maybe we can find a script Akron we can all believe in LOL.1 point

Coach Moorhead is an excellent communicator. Looking forward to this as well. Not expecting to learn a lot. Probably more motivational, and positive outlook speech.1 point

New turf is actually probably a much bigger priority than some of this other stuff lol. It looks like crap.1 point

So many options. The last few years I don't believe we ever wore the exact same uniform combination twice in a year. It was awesome. Then this year our uniforms were nice, but pretty generic. I MUCH preferred the Adidas. But there's no reason we still can't mix things up with the Nike's, is there? What happened to our blue and white helmets?1 point

A couple posts on Twitter are referring to Zach Gibson visiting Nebraska this weekend. I wish him luck and hope he get picked up. This kid made some huge strides from 2020 to 2021. Imagine what he could have done at Akron with more time to throw.1 point

Things are definitely setting up well. However, it will be fascinating to see the recruits that this coaching staff brings with them. That will tell us how excited we should get for next season.1 point

Southern currently up 24-23 on Kentucky with 4 minutes left in the 1st half. I expect Kentucky to pull away in the second half, but I kind of feel this shows Southern is a scrappy team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make the tourney by winning their conference.1 point

You have overlooked Georgia, which has emerged as a better area to recruit than Ohio/W Pa. But to your point, Georgia may also be well covered by our new staff. JM is surrounding himself with a rock star group of assistants. I hope Mumpfield reconsiders. This very well can grow to be a super place for him to be, especially considering, as others have wisely pointed out, few athletes ever make it in the pros.1 point

Doesn't appear so @Dr Z. I attempted to close and reopen browser as well. Charles Guthrie on Twitter: "It’s on!" / Twitter For what its worth, I've been able to copy links from Chrome, paste into Edge on Zipsnation and its worked fine. The issue appears to stem from copying the links out of Edge. As when I do that and paste into Chrome, it doesn't work either.0 points
