  1. I’m not going to post every offer like I have the past two years, but will update occasionally. Here are two recent QB offers made by our new QB coach. Chris Denson (FL) HUDL FILM Charlie Johnston (AL) HUDL FILM

  2. The Zips conclude their home regular season Tuesday night by hosting the Eagles of Eastern Michigan. Stan “Somehow Schools Keep Hiring Me” Heath’s Eagles come in at 12-17/5-11 and scored a mere 37 points in their last game, a 52-37 loss to Miami. Tyson Acuff continues to lead the Eagles and the MAC at 21.7 ppg. Despite Acuff’s numbers, the Eagles are last in the MAC in team offense. They are 8th in defense.

  4. Wow. So Groce was coaching Akron while recruiting AND officiating (the T he gave their player) NIU. Incredible. His agent is going to use that to get him a salary closer to Frank Martin this off season. 😂

  5. I think with Groce how much you play comes down to matchups and how you did in practice that week. As such, there can always be surprises or changes.

  6. I heard that in his streak last night Coit looked at Groce and said "that can be me in your uniform next year." They had a nice banter going all night according to the Beacon. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2024/03/03/akron-zips-mens-basketball-northern-illinois-huskies-mac-tournament/72802867007/ The Clarkie Collective will start saving to help Coit come here. Heck, I'l go get something a little bigger to drive him here that will accommodate that Swiss 7-footer Konan NIederhauser!

  8. Came home and watched some of the Toledo/NIU game. Very similar. NIU without 3 of their top scorers for both games. Akron defense had to stop Coit. Give him some 2s but stop the 3s. Ali did a good job on him 2nd half. NIU had a freaky couple games going on adrenaline. Groce kept his guys fresh and that bit of an edge paid off.

  12. 4-2-3-1 Borneo #12 and Bartels #15 are as good as advertised in offensive MF. The pleasant surprise is Ydrach #8 at CB. This enables Buechte to play defensive MF instead of CB. Malik Henry was very sharp today at his usual RB. His goal was a thing of beauty.

  13. Same. Iowa did a great job with the ceremony. I also enjoyed letting the players speak directly to the fans. Agree on Davis...hate to see that for her on senior night.

  14. I found the Iowa post game senior ceremony on YouTube. It is a nice touch and allows the players to speak. I feel bad for former CMU player Molly Davis. I hope her knee injury today is not as bad as it looks.

  15. There is a wealth of talent at WR in the 2024 class. I am certain some deserving players are being left off. Of note about Lang and Bostic, they are both raw coming out of high school and I believe they are better fits at defensive back. That being said, I cannot ignore their athletic ability and upside. HS/JUCO WRs: 1) TOLEDO - Zy’Marion Lang HUDL FILM 2) TOLEDO - Tashi Braceful HUDL FILM 3) TOLEDO - Jay’Quan Bostic HUDL FILM 4) AKRON - Kyan Mason HUDL FILM 5) BOWLING GREEN - Caleb Goodloe HUDL FILM Transfer WRs: 1) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Porter Rooks 2) BOWLING GREEN - Malcolm Johnson 3) OHIO - Coleman Owen 4) NORTHERN ILLINOIS - Andrew McElroy 4) BOWLING GREEN - RJ Garcia 2023 WRs and how they fared: 1) OHIO - Chase Hendricks = 11 Receptions, 108 Yards. 2) EASTERN MICHIGAN - Joe Walker = 3 Receptions, 22 Yards. Redshirted. 3) BUFFALO - Jevell Ferguson = N/A Went JUCO. 4) AKRON - Paul Davis = N/A Redshirted. 5) WESTERN MICHIGAN - Logan Lester = N/A Redshirted. Who I may have missed on: AKRON - Adrian Norton = 9 Receptions, 71 Yards. I thought Norton was underrated coming out of high school. I also wasn’t sure how quickly he would develop as a collegiate wide receiver after spending his senior year at QB. After watching him this past season, there’s a legitimate chance he turns out to be the best of the bunch.

  16. Interesting watching Iowa vs Ohio State women's game and them noting that Iowa does their senior night ceremony after the game. Maybe something to consider in the future? I get the risk of losing but I felt for the players last night getting honored in front of a 1/4 full JAR because it was so early and so many hadn't arrived yet.

  17. When the Zips had a shot clock violation that ended with a high and wide pass to Scott on the baseline and the buzzer went off and then Scott shot,,,,,,, anybody else have a feeling of certainty that would be the 3 pointer he would hit. Never fails.

  19. Will be interesting to see how the rotation continues to evolve. Minutes over the last two games: vs Ohio 25 - N. Johnson 17 - Scott 13 - Thornton 3 - T. Johnson DNP - Prather Jr. vs NIU 24 - Thornton 14 - N. Johnson 6 - Scott 6 - Prather Jr. 4 - T. Johnson I don't think Tavari gets many minutes in Cleveland, although I think his scoring off the bench is worth giving up a little defense. Scott and Thornton are both way too passive on offense, but I suspect Thornton will play because of his defense. I suspect Scott may lose minutes alongside Tavari. The two wild cards are Nate Johnson - who struggled tonight and may still be getting his game conditioning back - and Prather Jr, who is looking more comfortable out there and could add an outside threat.

  20. Coit had himself quite a night, but jacked up 27 shots including 17 three pointers to do it.

  21. Well if we end up tied with OU, they lost to Toledo twice. So we’d win that.

  23. They're literally calling fouls on each possession. Two on the Zips for just playing defense. We're playing bad, but this is just brutal basketball to watch.

  24. Its a new rule this season. The refs handled it completely correctly according to the rules. They are supposed to check it at the next media TO. Look at the 2nd bullet point at the bottom of this article: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/ncaa-approves-change-to-determining-block-or-charge-calls-and-other-rule-modifications-for-upcoming-season/

  25. Dead on on the bottom three - a little surprised by Ali, top three are Tavari, Nate and Enrique. What doesn't he do well?

  26. Groce and Ford are coaching their asses off. Groce is on a different level this game. Just looked at the NIU player and T'd him up himself after the refs didn't.

  32. Enrique can sign the cast "Actual best player in the MAC." Damn shame. PCCC's really going to miss his single digit production.

  37. (Those are also directional schools) 😊

  38. I agree with this. Akron lost to St Bonny on a neutral court and they are a mid pack A10 team. Martin is an excellent coach and will be a great add to the conference. The MAC can't stop now. They need to be aggressive and grow the footprint of the conference.

  39. I'm sorry our schedule isn't littered with ACC schools for me to get excited about like Wake Forest. UMass moves the needle for me more than a directional Michigan, Ball State, Northern Illinois, etc., especially in basketball which is typically a 2x schedule appearance. It breathes some life into an otherwise dying and stale conference, especially because this means 3 other schools are being added, too.

  40. How embarrassing is that the MAC needs to add teams to CATCH UP with the Sun Belt. Middle Tennessee, UConn, Western Kentucky, Temple? Idk...

  41. Yes, the 2022 postseason games had awful weather. The game against Pitt was the worst game I have ever stood through, that includes the 2018 game against Rider. I'm assuming one of the numbers is tickets sold and one is actual scanned in tickets. One of those two isn't made public and I'm guessing that is where they got the 47% increase
