Groce and his staff have a history of developing players into big time players. Okonkwo is a good college player. If he sticks around and develops as he could under this staff he could be great, especially in the MAC. Another year of development, especially focused on offensive skills, would probably make him more attractive to overseas pro ball. I hope he returns. Would be the makings of another great Akron team.6 points

I ran a department meeting this morning infront of about 100 people all over the country. We do a random multiple choice question in this meeting where the first 3 correct answers get a gift card. The question? Who has longest winning streak in men’s bball. Felt good man.6 points

Just the latest in our history of Seniors stepping it up!!! Deji Ibitayo, Jimmy Conyers, Jimond Ivey, Xavier Castaneda, Greg Tribble, just to name a few.6 points

Chris Payton should have sent a video message retracting his claim that he was a better player than Enrique.5 points

right, he's a big dude, can run with our pace, seems to always have solid positioning.. if he fine tunes some post moves and controlling the rebounds he gets his hands on I think he'd really be a handful4 points

I agree with one caveat- whomever decided to play music during Groce and Enrique’s speeches at the halftime ceremony should be flogged.4 points

USA up late on Ark State. Good for us since we beat USA but also because Ark State is currently one spot above us on the bracket matrix. Would most likely put us at the highest 13 seed, so one upset away from the 12 line And one upset on our end from not making it at all. Fingers crossed3 points

The one highlight missing, unless I missed it, was his game winning dunk at Northern Kentucky. Identical silhouette.3 points

Historically, basketball has been reluctant to retire numbers as the tradition is to not have a number over 55, as those make it more difficult for an official to signal to the scorer's table with two hands. With only 55 numbers, you could eliminate a decent portion of the numbers over time as you retired them. As a result, the jersey goes in the rafters rather than getting retired.2 points

Probably why schools like West Virginia and North Carolina invested a look at him. He definitely has the athleticism and the motor.2 points

I am excited about his game this year. When he first came to the Zips, I wondered how a 3rd or 4th year player could have so little offense. He has really improved each game and has provided much needed rebounding and toughness around the boards.2 points

Through some conversations with those in the know, I'm starting to gather a sense of the group behind the renewed energy. It is certainly a collective effort, but it's a small collective. I won't name names, but hats off to those who are involved. Akron needs warriors who are willing to do whatever it takes to move UA forward and ascend to new heights. They also need our help as fans to continue to show our support, and last night Zips Nation did just that. Fantastic night.2 points

Came here to say Athletics did a fantastic job yesterday. Great giveaway, ceremony was awesome, the video they put together was really cool, we had a spotlight for intros - seriously, I don't know who is behind the renewed energy or if it's a collective effort, but they're doing a hell of a job this season.2 points

While I was aware of the 0-5 digits, I didn't think about how retired numbers would impact that. Makes sense. I motion to make a second level of actually retired numbers. UNC does this, they have tons of "retired jerseys" and then a row of retired numbers hanging. I guess they wanted to honor that MJ guy1 point

Anybody know how Rich Brisco is developing as a red shirt? He seems to be very similar in style as Okonkwo. I wouldn’t expect him to play much next year regardless of what happens with Okonkwo. I’m just curious if he’s a keeper.1 point

Is there a jugs gun for basketballs? If there was I'd like to see him catch 500 passes a day! His hands are a little iffy at times.1 point

That dunk against Miami in the MAC Tournament should be made into a poster or logo silhouette.1 point

Well there's the whole problem where Akron cut a majority of it's Master's programs. I hold a master's in chemistry from Ohio University because Akron was dumping most of its programs. Akron has chem, but not the supporting staff or courses for what I needed/wanted. It takes staff to make a decent program. You can't just cut them, scatter them to the wind and then expect to make decent master's programs. So, like GP1, unless you actually hire (and fairly compensate) the people running master's programs, it absolutely is just a shameless money grab.1 point

For those who don't know, Nolan works under the name AO1 Creative. He is the entire package behind our sudden explosion of social media content in the last year or so. Truly a special talent and I'm glad we're partnered with him.1 point

Scott has been our most consistent player during MAC play. He seems to have really embraced his role as leader of the second unit. He also is usually in at the end of the game.1 point
-
Great point. He is a streak shooter. Meanwhile, Scott has really shot the ball well the last 2 games and has filled this gap. I am amazed at how much better he is playing this year. Not only is he shooting better but ten times better attacking the basket.1 point

Enrique was on the radio around the beginning of the second half. You should be able to watch it on the zips Facebook page behind the mic stream1 point

Enrique got called up to the Pacers and chartered into Fulton in the first half to get here.1 point

20-5, 12-0. We are so fortunate to have this team and coaching staff. They bring us a lot of joy.1 point

I feel Arth created a lot of problems for himself as well. He decided to bring in his equally, perhaps even more, inexperienced cronies. You had the blind leading the blind. If you're going to bring in an inexperienced FBS coach, you should at least pair him with a long-time FBS coordinator. Perhaps a guy that had a coaching stint of his own and can at least offer guidance on what not to do.1 point

Arth's greatest claim to fame was that at John Carroll they beat Mount Union. True he had a good record at JCU with one year being outstanding. That's not a pedigree of winning. When he got to UTC he was out of his depth already.1 point

I dunno…I thought something was fishy when the Tennessee Chattanooga fans and Administrators were doing cartwheels through town the day Williams announced he was paying them money to take Arth (a whopping 9-13 in 2 years for the Mocs) off their hands.1 point
