1981 grad
Sincere, driving to the hoop, missing, laying on the court complaining to the ref he was fouled, leads to a 5 on 4 at the other end and an open 3 for Indiana. 1

bigzipguy
I would really like to root for MAC teams in the NCAA'S, when the Zips are not in it. But sorry Kent fans, when you have some, not all, cocky big mouths , it is not going to happen. If sincere makes it to the pros, he better change his attitude or basketball burgers will be shoved down his throat!!!
Let'sGoZips94
Interesting tweet from Boals. Can't tell if this is smack talk or somehow support for Pinky. @jupitertoo any insight?
LoyalZIP
Kent plays good D but blows offensively when Carry isn’t hot. Showed tonight. Color me surprised. Zips had a much better showing last year against a better team. Onto the off-season for the MAC!

monrowe
The 2023 NCAA wrestling championship was Hosted by the BOK center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Renovations at Gallagher IBA? IDK.I think the NCAA/NIT just scheduled a home game vs a power 5 school for YSU or they ponied up?

LoyalZIP
Keep an eye on what's happening at Buffalo. After the Zips took down the Bulls in the 2022 QF, many here called it "the game Groce Killed Buffalo." Then he blew them out in Whitesell's final game in the 2023 QF. They have now reportedly been turned down by every one of the top 3 candidates on their list of prospective head coaches. 6 Bulls are in the portal as of right now. It's been reported that Buffalo has no opportunities for NIL, either. Jerrod Calhoun of Youngstown State turned them down today. YSU is one of the hardest jobs in the Horizon League, and he would get a decent raise if he went to Buffalo. From a 6-seed in the tournament 4 years ago to scraping the bottom of the barrel to get a head coach. 1

We may want to give credit to Groce, but Buffalo did this to themselves by becoming the University AT Buffalo, SUNY Buffalo, and having a good chunk of their campus in Amherst; all the whole secretly/not so secretly being in Canada. They have an identity crisis, and their fall is fantastic to watch.

A bad hiring decision when Oats left caused their downfall in basketball.

Huggins had 4 straight 20-win seasons, including an NCAA and two NIT berths. Enter Coleman Crawford, and a deep dive into the basketball abyss. Our own Charles Guthrie fired a 92-80 coach, replacing him with a "Name" guy...Will Ryan (son of Wisconsin legend Bo Ryan). Willy was a .500 coach at D-2 Wheeling prior to leeching on to his dad's resume like a remora on a shark belly, and bamboozling Guthrie. The apple fell faaaaar from the tree, as son Will went 15-61 before being fired. Names like Ianello and Arth obviously also apply. Enjoy whatcha' got...because tomorrow is promised to no one. Even the Tar Heels.

Definitely, but one could argue Akron football has been a decimated program for the past 3-4 decades. With a few years of outlier success here and there. It's amazing how bad Akron has been at picking coaches.

1981 grad
I remember reading this story how Buffalo had signed Hurley and then next thing I knew he was at Arizona State. Here is an interesting story how the AD screwed up the contract extension. https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/heat-index/2015/04/10/report-bobby-hurley-left-buffalo-after-ad-mishandling/25584229/
