I have gone to many functions, business and non business activities because it was the right thing to do and I did not leave early because it would have been disrespectful to the host. If the University is training these student athletes for life and a business career, should they not learn respect for others? If I was the U I would make it mandatory that the coaches escort the teams on the floor and that the coaches and teams stay till the end of the game and cheer on the Zips any time a student athlete is honored during a sporting event. The life of a student-athlete is very busy and the "student" part of that equation should come before anything. Forcing them to stay til the end of a game they are not a part of doesn't make much sense to me. And what are you going to do, block the doors? Athletics, Groce, and the players are doing a good job of connecting with students to try to draw more to games. Hopefully we'll draw a few more each game. Zippy87
Came here to say Athletics did a fantastic job yesterday. Great giveaway, ceremony was awesome, the video they put together was really cool, we had a spotlight for intros - seriously, I don't know who is behind the renewed energy or if it's a collective effort, but they're doing a hell of a job this season.

Through some conversations with those in the know, I'm starting to gather a sense of the group behind the renewed energy. It is certainly a collective effort, but it's a small collective. I won't name names, but hats off to those who are involved. Akron needs warriors who are willing to do whatever it takes to move UA forward and ascend to new heights. They also need our help as fans to continue to show our support, and last night Zips Nation did just that. Fantastic night.

I agree with one caveat- whomever decided to play music during Groce and Enrique’s speeches at the halftime ceremony should be flogged.

1981 grad
Biggest crowd of the year and the Zips brought in the Red Panda to entertain the crowd!!! Just kidding. The half time show was not the Red Panda but some guy mopping the floor. He was amazing.
Let'sGoZips94
Allegedly, around 10% of the student population was at the game. Amazing stuff from the students. If this support were to continue, there needs to be a legitimate conversation about flipping the seating in the JAR. Move the students to the other side of the court so they're always on camera, and move the benches/lower bowl regulars to the near side. Keep winning, showcase Akron as a place that's fun, and the University could really start turning enrollment around. It could have been worse. They could have had 10 interns with Gopros five feet away.

I went to a Zips game at Millett last year and there were maybe a few hundred attendees. Capacity had to be over 10k. Looked like an absolute ghost town. I went to a game there around 2009 or 10 when Charlie Coles was still there. They had a big black curtain up hiding a whole side of the arena and there couldn't have been more than 200 people at the game. They didn't even really have people working and we just walked back towards the locker rooms after the game and got to see a fun interaction with Charlie telling KD the MAC was his now.

kreed5120
TBF Infocision was built 16 years ago. If it was built today it would probably cost something in the neighborhood of 120 million
