The word on the street is that they don't have a serviceable backup big and that they have a weak OOC schedule. Also, the teams they have lost to have just wanted it more.3 points

UA Athletics has been using the same Pantone color swatches since the original redesign in 2002. Different applications and lighting tend to give different effects. The blue on the turf is the same as the blue in the JAR. It just looks brighter because of the sunlight. Can't outline the A logo in gold in either application. Gold on a green field and gold on a tan basketball court just doesn't look right. There's not enough contrast. The white outline makes the most sense.3 points

I thought that IU was very talented and tough at home, but eminently beatable. More than the loss of key players I felt our style of play cost us more. We started playing long ball against Princeton and it didn't work. It is too much to expect Emil to pull a long pass out of the air with sometimes two guys hanging on him. If he does get it the service to the players running off him is not good. Again, not his fault. We did not play our game. The ball was in the air way too much and that played to IU's physicality. Zip players were heading rather than bringing the ball down. We are best playing the ball out of the back on the ground, getting it to the mids who find wings and #9 getting behind the back four or in space. I feel our style would have beat IU if we had stuck to it. But when we played w/o possession we chased and got tired. The final 20 minutes IU had more energy. If this sounds like bitching, it isn't. Despite losing two key players our depth was still able to carry us to a win. We just didn't play Akron soccer.3 points

Oh that was supposedly a Kent player putting together a timeline of Burns knocking up a student staffer at Wyoming while he coached there2 points

Agree with your assessment of Ohio. That team is fatally flawed. Further, as long as Akron has Bud Wentz to write checks to acquire the players Groce wants, Akron will be the frontrunner. Perhaps other programs should be rooting for a stock market collapse.2 points

Exactly, it's probably the heaviest recruited area in the country. The part of the country that I feel gets slept on is the Midwestern states of MN, WI, IL, etc. Those states don't produce a ton of 5* talent so it appears many schools spend little to no time recruiting it. It however has a lot of quality G5 talent. Much of that talent seems to find its way onto the the roster of the Dakota FCS programs, which dominate the subdivison.1 point

Cutting 10 of 19 of the professors in our most well renown program seems like a huge mistake. Hope someone talks some sense into these people.1 point

Sure, sign me up. It would be nice to beat Duquesne by 30 points a few times.1 point

Maybe Dru can throw us a bone and schedule a home-and-home between the Zippers and the Dooks before he’s canned. Rooting for him to turn it around, though.1 point

I was thinking this too. I initially thought at the game he was going to miss some time and certainly didn't think he'd be back in that game. That thud was loud when he hit the floor.1 point

UA's Bismark Kipchirchir runs an excellent 29:43.9 at the Men's NCAA XC Championship. He was 73rd out of 252 finishers. https://live.pttiming.com/xc-ptt.html?mid=7388 The sad part is that the clock is already ticking on a larger program picking him up via NIL as was the case last year with UA's top two runners and the coach.1 point

It's a really tough situation when your coach retires right after you have your best season in decades. There are two options. One is to promote within hoping that you can keep the core players in tact, but likely settling for a less qualified candidate than you could get from a national search. The other option is to hire an external candidate and face a complete rebuild as the bulk of the players will likely transfer. Killing really any momentum of building off the success.1 point

JoJo will be fine. He had 10 rebounds - Maishe might've had 10 rebounds in his entire Akron career. I think there are so many scoring threats on this team, we should expect quieter stretches at times from our top guys. For example, Hardman had himself a day. Those 3PA eat into JoJo's shot attempts.1 point

I sure hope. I am rooting for the kid. He's unfailingly polite and a real student athlete.1 point

I think this week off will be good for Harris as well. I imagine his back is quite sore from yesterday’s fall.1 point

It seems telling that the Deputy AD is not the acting head of athletics but perhaps mostly political with more faculty cuts coming and/or the possibility of Jennings also heading for the exit.1 point

The Zips lost two first team Big East players to injuries during the game. I am disappointed but I am very proud of the zips.1 point

A win last night in basketball and the streak continues. Today is the big day. Zips need a win in Indiana in soccer and a win against Alabama State who also won their first 2 games. Will watch soccer and then head over to basketball. Hoping the Zips win in regulation so that I can hopefully see the tipoff in basketball. Great day to be a Zips fan. Go Zips!!!1 point

Looked like either a broken collarbone or separated shoulder. Had control of a through ball and IU attacker launched into him. At best careless play, but dirty play in my opinion.0 points
