Im guessing the “temporary” rule will soon become permanent. I think a new governing body will eventually be needed.

Zipmeister
So Im flippin back and forth between the liberty/oregon game and The lsu/wisc game. Im primarily interested in the former in part Because as one expert on this board pointed out liberty is just packed with racist. So at one point I flip to my back up game where lsu is on the wisc 4 inch line and ready to run a hurryup play, I witnessed one of the smartest/strangest things ive ever seen in a football game. Wisc. Wanted to sub in some bigger linemen but didn’t want to call time out. So one of their linemen stood up and grabbed the lsu center. No call. So then he shook the center, flag, 2 inch penalty and wisc could now make all the substitutions they wanted

There may be more, but I only know of one athlete who ever got anything less than an A for one of those 1-hour academic credits. He failed to show up to travel to one away meet and got a C for the quarter. At the time I was enrolled at Akron everyone had to take 2 courses in physical education. Anyone who looked at my academic record might think I was minoring in P.E. because I had a boat load of 1-hour credits (all As).
catdaddyp
Looks like Pete Lembo is headed to Buffalo. He’s a phenomenal special teams coach and has a ton of ties to the northeast that will help in recruiting.
LoyalZIP
If not for Jordan Lynch and NIU, Pete Lembo could have been one of the all-time great MAC coaches while at BSU.

GP1
This is really all about football so I'll put it here. https://sports.yahoo.com/sec-big-ten-uniting-to-tackle-pervasive-issues-in-college-athletics--pressures-are-mounting-172832810.html G5 schools had better get together and come up with their own solutions, because whatever comes out of this won't benefit them.

TBH, student-athletes should have always been allowed to transfer at will. Just like they can transfer at will as a student. College athletics was never intended to be a $multi-billion industry. clarkwgriswold
Here's an interesting article about how the rest of college football is becoming the farm system for the P5- https://sports.yahoo.com/as-college-footballs-elite-is-engulfed-in-a-power-struggle-g5-left-just-trying-to-survive-we-are-a-farm-system-140058685.html 1

Thanks for posting. Like someone in the article mentioned, I don’t think the competitive divide at the top of G5 is as great as the monetary divide. At least, not yet. Purely speaking to the instances of P5 players wanting more playing time, we have some instances of that ourselves - Anthony Whigan, Alex Adams, Daniel George, Lorenzo Lingard, Shockey Jacques-Louis, KJ Martin, Curtis Harper. There are others that have contributed, but 5 of the 7 listed went on to be All-MAC. I was just talking with someone the other day and mentioned this has been the oddest offseason I’ve ever seen. Between an incredibly lackluster National Signing Day in February (that might as well be scratched at this point) to several head coaches willingly leaving their posts for either coordinator or positional jobs at P5s. I’m guessing this is just the beginning of what will soon become the new norm.
UA1996MAENG
Just curious. This is not just about the UA transfers in the link. In general, what happens to these portal "dwellers" who have not signed with another university? Do they just hang out in limbo hoping or can they re-commit to their current team, provided the coach wants them back? I scanned a large number of teams. It seems that there are many of these athletes who, as of the end of February, have not found a new home. https://247sports.com/Season/2024-Football/TransferPortal/?institutionkey=24065&status=uncommitted
Section210Zip
This part was interesting to me. The NIL recruiting landscape is casting doubt, too, on the value of a scholarship. Multiple Group of Five coaches tell Yahoo Sports that Power Five programs, having hit their NCAA-mandated 85 scholarship limit, are adding players as “walk-ons” with collectives footing the bill for a scholarship through NIL. The NCAA permits at least 30 walk-ons. One Power Five collective director, in fact, acknowledged this trend, telling Yahoo Sports that they often “layer on top” an extra $50-60,000 to cover a walk-on’s tuition, books and fees. “They’ve got to make up what a scholarship covers. I get it. It’s smart,” Chadwell said. “But the NCAA needs to create a rule requiring players to sit out a year if they are not on full academic scholarship.”

For a large portion, if they aren’t on a new team by summer, their football playing days are over.
MangoZip
Saw an article that this is coming back this summer and every kid will get around $600 payment for using their name and likeness. Probably the only NIL money that Akron kids will get.

I'm excited to finally have a college football game to play again, but I know it will take a few years until they actually pay attention to schools like Akron. It took several years of playing in a generic stadium before they actually included InfoCision in the older games.
Spin
This is the best news I have heard in awhile. No more renaming and editing the players in Madden every year, using the Rams' vintage uniforms. And trying to get the colors close on the opponents. The college games were always several years behind the pro games, but they were better than nothing. I just don't have a game system that'll run the oldies.
