Man, has anybody improved his game more over the course of this year than Michal Wynne? ( I took the e out of his first name and stuck it in his last name to prove I could be a reporter for the ABJ).4 points

One Ohio team made it to the round of 32. One made it to the sweet 16. We'll never know what the Chesse/Banks/LCJ/Williams team would have done, but it was the best team I've seen in the JAR wearing a Zips uniform. No one can deny it is a viable argument that he is an equivalent or better coach.4 points

Audible ZI...PS chant on TV in the Women's MAC quarterfinal. Nice job, but even better job to the Lady Zips!3 points

Ice cold Bell’s Two Hearted as I wait for the Zips tip-off. Kalamazoo’s worst (WMU bb team) might not have made it to Cleveland, but it’s best export did!2 points

Big start to the game for Ferrell to keep the team afloat, Bass with a big 3rd quarter, and Dawson closing it out. That was a big team win in terms of postseason play. With this young team, if they don't win this tournament and get that automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, I think the WNIT is a real possibility now and that would be huge for this young team if they don't win this whole thing.2 points

Jackie seems genuinely touched by the tribute they did for her on her last telecast. For about 2 seconds - then it was right back to professional mode. 😊2 points

KD was a fine coach. Unfortunately, with coaches, sometimes familiarity breeds contempt in some of the fan base. We had some great times with him but it became almost too routine for some to win 23 to 27 games and the conference regular season championship...wash...rinse...repeat. Without KD the Zips likely would not have established the consistent winning program we have today. We could just as easily be Eastern Michigan if he hadn't built a winning tradition. All that being said, he appeared to have peaked at UA and it was a good time for him to move on both for him and the school. My only regret was that he left the program in shambles as took some valuable players with him that could have helped the transition here. That's all water under the bridge at this point. I'm happy with Groce and I am glad he's here. That doesn't mean I'll feel the same next year or even next week. I've seen a few things this year that haven't pleased me but overall I think he's represented UA well.2 points

Buffalo is the worst matchup for EVERYONE...ON PAPER! Men's AND women's teams! But games are played on the court, not on paper! Frankly, coach Whitesell has been a big disappointment-- and I'm sure UB fans agree!1 point

I can imagine ONLY Akron would be interested in facing Carry and Company again. And I'm not sure why? 🥴1 point

So Toledo nearly had their annual choke vs Central. Here's hoping the Zips can make it happen tomorrow.1 point

Too much dribbling against this active D. Need to use it against them and hit a backdoor cut or something1 point

Wynn just adds an element of defense the rest of the team doesn't have. So active. Zips need to keep their foot on the gas. Ali with 13 points to start the second half!!1 point

Every score he has had in the second half has had nothing to do with him endlessly dribbling. All right in the flow of the offense. Keep that up.1 point

If our strategy is just to clear out for Ali every time down the floor we deserve to lose.1 point

some ticky-tack fouls called on us and it feels like our guys are getting mauled of course I watch the game through navy blue and gold glasses so I might be biased lol1 point

The number of straight up inaccurate statements Reghi makes a game is baffling. There must not be much competition out there.1 point

Normally I don’t comment a lot on these awards but it does seem a little suspect that they can name a guy defensive player of the year and that same guy can be the only one in the conference averaging a double double on offense and he still not be first team.1 point

Thanks. Maybe I thought Fair was on that team because she reminded me so much of Cierra Dillard when it was Dillard that I obviously was thinking about.1 point

Maybe not full-on promoting the Z for a few weeks, sure, I get that. But it should not change the outlook from the University on a new primary logo and such. It would be laughable to think otherwise. Stupid Russa.1 point

Both of those kids ended up at UA because KD was the only d1 coach who believed in them. He made a commitment to their familys that would always have place on his team. They made the choice to follow him to Duquesne. He didn't actively recruit them.1 point

I was a Melissa Jackson detractor. The lowly Akron Zips women's basketball team is in the semi finals!! What a turnaround. Now time for the Men to step up tomorrow1 point

Thanks!! I found out I can stream WHLO on my phone at the job site if my truck radio doesn't get the signal in Avon (building a wheelchair ramp for the son-in-law at their new house). https://640whlo.iheart.com/ or 640AM in case anyone else is unable to watch TV.1 point

Corcoran didn't play much and wasn't very effective when she was in. I'll bet that ankle is still bothering her. Good thing the rest of her team picked her up.1 point

6-24, 1-16 in conference, and finished the season losing 17 straight with his self proclaimed "best team" in year 5 at Duquesne. Oof.1 point

Huggins took over an Akron program that was on probation (previous coach's doings) to the NCAA Tournament in his second year. Although Wikipedia doesn't show it, he also had 2 Akron teams with NIT bids. There's a reason Cincinnati wanted him, and he delivered a Final Four soon after he arrived. Damn good coach wherever he's been. His final two seasons @ UA were as an Independent, with no conference tournament/automatic bid possibility like Dambrot had. But I think a lot of people think in binary terms...either he sucked or he was the Messiah. I like Dambrot. I spent 13 seasons supporting him. But I know Huggins is a better basketball coach. And I'm pretty sure Groce is too. No disrespect to KD. Dambrot was usually the second best coach in the MAC. That's pretty good. But 0 NCAA tourney wins, and 3-9 in MAC Championship finals doesn't get you an A+ grade. More like a solid "B."1 point

It would be ill-advised to promote the Z as primary logo at this juncture in history (I'm just waiting for some dork on Twitter to come across our Z and try to call us out on it). I don't think it will be canceled/scrubbed from all its currently existing usage in the near term. A block or script 'A' of some type doesn't really distinguish us from all of the other 'A' schools. And as noted, the roo head is not readily distinguishable from rats, donkeys, etc. however a full-body roo is very identifiable and unique to Akron at the FBS level. I believe we already one or two of those in the portfolio.1 point

I hate the script Akron logo so much I'd probably join the Ukrainian resistance just to fire RPGs at it.1 point

So we get rid of the "Z." If Putin starts placing script Akron on his tanks, howitzers and goon squad T shirts, then what do we do?1 point

I'm sure the folks at Oregon Live will be disappointed; there job is to convey ringing endorsements for terminated football staff. My takeaway was that we got a guy with tons of D1 experience.1 point

What makes you say we came out on top? Toth had an impressive resume. Edit: Tibesar coaches TJ Watt at Wisconsin. Per Watt's Wikipedia... In July 2015, Watt was asked by head coach Paul Chryst to switch to a defensive position as a redshirt sophomore.[3] Badgers' outside linebackers coach Tim Tibesar recalled Watt's position change saying, "At that time, even though he was in his third fall at Wisconsin, it was kind of like having a freshman come in. You're trying to teach him for the first time how to play outside 'backer in our system." Per his Oregon State page...
