Thank you Freeman and Tribble for spending your entire collegiate careers at Akron. Thank you to Ali for coming back, and thank you to Hunter for choosing Akron.8 points

1st off. Thank you to the seniors… what a fun year. We got to the mountain top! a Mac tournament title. looking to next year I think we have a future superstar: Sharon Young. He won 3 straight class 4 titles in WV and also won Gatorade player of the year. He is a power 5 talent coming here! you have a gap year and let him grow and by sophomore year we will be ready to hand him the keys. Zips will be just fine if we keep Groce5 points

I see LeBron sent the Duquesne team new shoes. He publicly congratulated Jake Diebler. Has the kid from Akron said anything about the Zips’ success?5 points

What a great team, they responded to adversity after a lot of people counted them out after WMU. Put together 3 great games in Cleveland. We got to see Akron in the greatest tournament in sports. Just a great season, excited for the future. Enrique seems to think highly of Marvin, get Prather in the starting lineup, Nate will only get better in a full season, get some good transfers in here. Who is to say we can't get back here next year4 points

Neither team deserved to be higher than a 13 seed. The Zips did nothing all season to earn it and neither did Duquesne. Yet somehow they got rewarded by playing a mediocre BYU team while the Zips are get blown out by Creighton. And yes, I'm being petty. But I find no joy in seeing the coach who bailed his alma mater after never winning a tournament game, win one at another school. His Akron teams consistently underachieved and yet now we're supposed to cheer as we see our Zips get blown out yet again? No thanks.4 points

My experience as a UA student was long ago and very good. My expereince as a parent of a current UA freshamn has been very postive. Everyone with whom I have had contact has been great (admissions, Office of Academic Retention Services, Williams Honors College, The College of Engineering, etc.), and my son is having a great expereince. So my current sense is that there are a lot of people on campus who care a lot about UA. I don't doubt there are problems, as there are on many campuses, but I feel like the current leadership is overall very good.4 points

Super happy for KD getting an NCAAT win to close out his career. Akron now has at least one alum with an NCAAT men's basketball win as a coach too. If we can't be the Cinderella team this year, I hope Duquesne is.3 points

I felt we made some mistakes late as we were pressing. During that 8-0 run Tribble tried to go after an offensive rebound he had no chance of getting, which led to a transition 3. Ali picking up a 2nd foul when he should have just got back on defense. We must keep our composure and play smart.3 points

Because the guy has a brand built around being a "kid from Akron" but chooses to publicly support Ohio State and a Pittsburgh school. You can have your love affair with "The King". I will gladly stay off that train.2 points

Because he didn't give our team shoes before the game? Our guys get a ton of LeBron gear sent to them - one of five schools in the nation to partner with him I believe. It shouldn't surprise anyone though that he goes the extra mile for his former coach and someone he considers a brother in Dru.2 points

KD is a Zip and he had success. I'm happy for two of our alumni as Dru is part of his team also. This is a good thing.2 points

You have a good coach, with a great staff, a culture of winning and you start again. That's how it has worked forever. Go Zips!2 points

Kudos to Freeman for a great 🦘 career. I just wish he had fewer opportunities on the offensive end.2 points

That's why those losses to Miami, EMU, & WMU matter & those close losses to UNLV, Utah State, and St. Bonaventure. Those are different outcomes and we're talking about playing a depleted Kansas team matchup than a Final Four caliber Creighton matchup. Yes, only three games in Cleveland matter to get to this point. But how you play the rest of the season will either help or hurt your chances once you're here. On the Creighton side, they got bounced early from their conference tournament. Unfortunately, normally those teams are the ones that bounce back in the NCAA Tournament. While on the other side where the ones that went on a run to win their conference tournament, usually underperformed/failed to get out of the first weekend.2 points

There is no better advertisement for Akron than being a line on the bracket. Except for being a line on the bracket and winning. Go Zips!!2 points

We hit a home run in Gary Miller. He's very humble and approachable. The kids seem to love him. If the president sets the tone/culture we're in good hands now and moving forward.2 points

I was sad to read that Richie Laryea needed to have surgery. He will be out for 3 months Zips Nation is pulling for you, Richmond Laryea. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/toronto-fc-s-richie-laryea-out-long-term-with-hamstring-injury2 points

I'm more bullish on the state of the program overall than I'm seeing from other posters, but there are some concerns, and the biggest one to me is this: Going into the season, the book on the Zips was that their deep frontcourt would carry the team offensively; with the backcourt being thinner, and our best guard being both ineffective and uninterested in shooting behind the arc, this would be a team that bullies teams inside. Instead, this team finished in the uppermost quartile in 3-pointers taken as a percentage of total field goal attempts (41.5%) despite ending up 274th in the country in 3PT%. This makes me worried that Groce is not going to meaningfully adjust his approach to the game based on the personnel he has. We still won that MAC largely because we had a generational talent in Freeman during a very down year for the MAC. We backed into the championship and the tournament, and while we have never won in the tourney, this was our worst loss in it. The was supposed to be one of the greatest Akron teams of all time. So, if my complaint about Groce is fair, and endures...sure hope he finds some shooters! But that gets me to the good news. I do think Groce is a good recruiter and a good motivator, and for these reasons I'd be willing to wager that, whatever the consensus is on how Akron will fare next year once we have an idea of what our roster looks like, we will exceed those expectations.1 point

Bur why does it matter that he didn't? I'm guessing by the "LeBum" comment that nothing he could've done would've been good enough anyhow.1 point

It's not hard to tweet "Congrats to Akron on making the tourney." Or maybe LeBum is like Kent and can't tweet the simple stuff (like the final score).1 point

It’s especially apparent that LeBron is not going to help his hometown team if he won’t even shout them out or give them shoes like he did for Duquesne. It’s a bummer the Leaf Filter guy was a football player instead of a basketball player, because his donations would go a lot further with the basketball team. I still appreciate what he does for the football team, though.1 point

Overall, I can't complain about the effort. I just don't think this team ever really neared its potential this season. Shooting woes plagued us the 2nd half of the season and we really had no way of defending #11 on Creighton. I'd recommend trying to send a double to force him out of his dribble, but they just shoot the 3 too well to do that.1 point
-
Just a ridiculous stat, they won the rebound battle 38-26, but we only had 20 chances for defensive rebounds (and got 17 of them)1 point
-
We had opportunities to earn a higher seed but we lost to St. Bonny, UNLV, Drake, and James Madison. If we want respect, we have to prove that we can beat teams other than EMU and BG.1 point
